14th of May 2021 – What was supposed to happen, you know, if the future had not been changed
It was Friday night, Lena was at Kara's apartment. Sam and Alex were supposed to be there too but Ruby had a soccer accident, so the recently engaged couple decided to stay with her at the hospital. Kara poured Lena a glass of wine and came sit next to her on the couch.
"So, how was your board meeting?", asked Kara.
"Really good. I think I blow their minds."
"Good. I'm happy L-Corp is doing so well. You've really worked hard for it."
Speaking of, Lena's building appeared on TV. Lena asked her best friend to put the sound up:
"... L-Corp seems to be prey to a bombing attack. Fortunately, the building was close for the day, no employee is in there. We ask everyone in the perimeter to stay at a secure distance and wait for back up."
Kara didn't even think and got up from the couch:
"Hum, Lena, I'm sorry, but I have to go make a phone call in the hallway. Just stay here, I'll be right back."
Kara rushed over to the door before Lena could say anything. She changed her clothes and flew to L-Corp. When she got there, she checked that no one was around before scanning the building for the bomb. She quickly found it and saw she only had a dozen of seconds left. She took it and flew as high as she could to make the bomb explode in the air, above the water.
Of course, the news covered it live, and as Kara came back to her apartment, Lena had figure it out.
"Phone call, hum?"
"Hum, yeah", responded Kara, her hair disheveled.
"Kara, did you just protect the city from a bomb, saving my company in the process?", asked Lena, with gratefulness in her voice.
"What? What do mean? What are you talking about?"
"You ran out of there, fully knowing I'd discover who you are, to save my building?"
"Well, I- I didn't fully know you were going to figure it out."
"You would have risked losing me, for a building?"
"I mean it's not just any building, it's your life's work."
"It's purely material."
"Yeah, but I know how much it means to you."
Lena got closer to Kara and took off her glasses:
"Thank you."
Kara smiled a little before feeling Lena's lips on her owns. She closed her eyes and smiled again. They pressed their foreheads together and Kara broke the silence:
"You have no idea how many times I've dreamt of that moment."
Lena chuckled and closing the gap between their lips again.
