Takes place after chapter 57

Kody re-read the same sentence on his phone, as if it was going to re-arrange itself into something different. He had much troubling him.

Lumine and him are going to leave. To who knows where, with no money, and no adults with them. While they were being hunted by someone. They could get caught, because Lumine isn't exactly the best at subtlety. They could die. And because he is utterly useless, it's not going to end well because he doesn't have his dad to save him anymore.

Speaking of, his next issue was his dad. Although he didn't want to think about it, a part of him knew he more likely then not wouldn't see him again. He wouldn't be able to go home. It would never be the same again. The thought alone made him want to cry at the unfairness of it. Why did this have to-

"..ody? Kody!" Lumine snapped him  out of his (rather depressing) trance.

"What?" He hissed, harsher then he had intended. Lumine's ears flattened in what Kody could assume submission, but he didn't know. He really needed to catch up on his dog body language.

"I-You looked upset.. are you sure your okay?" He cocked his head to the side curiously.

Kody, unbeknownst to him, blushed a little bit at the action. "Peachy. Why do you ask, anyway?" He was also slightly annoyed he was interrupted in his quiet time. He suddenly felt the presence of his cat loom it's way around his arm, supposedly trying to be comforting.

"I still don't understand why you like that cat so much.." he lowered his ears in distaste. Lumine grabbed Kody's arm and put it close to his chest. Kody felt.. warm. He chalked it up to Lumine having the body heat of a human furnace.

Lumine seemed to feel much better as well.

Kody began to scroll through apps, now only half paying attention to Lumine.

"Anyway, do you, uh.." he paused. "Still have any questions? I know that this is kinda sudden and all.." he looked down at Kody's arm sheepishly, almost surprised it was still there.

"Yeah, I think I get it," Kody answered. Lumine looked at him curiously, then seemed to have shoved the thought to the side. Tentatively, he snuggled up to Kody's side, pressing half of his body weight onto him. "Good, I was worried you were anxious or something." He placed his head on Kody's shoulder nervously. Kody froze, and then calmed down a little. Lumine hummed in contentment and squeased Kody's arm.

Silently, Kody began to nod off.

In the corner of Kody's eye, he saw Lumine stick his tongue out at the shadow-cat childishly.

However, when they heard the door open, Lumine was the first to jolt upwards, face becoming an absolutely brilliant shade of red in the process.

Serves him right.
