I walked out of the lift, pulling my blazer across my body. I walked past my old desk, still empty. Looks like I hadn't been replaced so quickly.
Winn gave me a little smile as I walked past his desk.
"Hey Kara. Miss Grant told me to swing by her office today."
Kara smiled and pulled the phone to her ears.
"Miss Grant? Yes I know. Just send her in? Okay yes Miss Grant." She placed the phone down and sighed.
"Job not getting any better eh?" I asked. She shook her head and took a pen in her hand.
"No. Miss Grant said to go on in." I nodded.
"Wish me luck." I turned my body saying it to both Winn and Kara. I opened the office door.
"Miss Grant?" I asked walking towards her desk.
"Take a seat Amalia." I sat down crossing my legs.
"So Miss Grant if you don't mind me asking why am I here?"
"Because I think I gave you up too early. And word on the street is that the Daily Planet are looking for a new editor." I furrowed my brows.
"Okay? What does that have to do with me?" Miss Grant didn't reply and handed me a envelope.
"What's this?"
"Just read it." I opened it and pulled out something I noticed. It was my résumé. I read down it before noticing the word 'Editor!' scribbled across it in big green writing.
"You came in looking for any simple job but the way you worded everything showed you to be different, to be creative. So I wrote on editor because that's the job you were destined to have, even if you don't admit it yourself." I nodded.
"Tell me what creative things do you do?" I furrowed my brows and was stuck for a minute.
"I used to paint. But that was a long long time ago."
"Why don't you start painting again and show me something and then I'll know, really if you're right for the job."
I nodded.
"I look forward to seeing you tomorrow." I furrowed my brows.
"Tomorrow?" I asked standing up. Miss Grant walked around her desk and faced me.
"Yes. Tomorrow be back here at this time exactly with a painting. Then we will continue our conversation." I nodded and walked out of the office.
"Well?" Winn asked as Kara also looked to me.
"I may be getting a job back. But as an editor." The two had a look of excitement among their faces.
"You'll be back at work. We won't have to keep tracking you down." I chuckled lightly as it was fake and I deliberately don't tell anyone where I now work.
