It was midday before Dante's eyes cracked open and he looked forward at Luke who's arms were wrapped around Dante's back tightly, copying the boy who had done the exact same in response. Breathing deep and shuffling closer Dante pressed his forehead into Luke's shoulder as he breathed in the warm air around them. It was over, he was free, he could relax. Smiling he hugged Luke slightly tighter as the other boy hummed and mumbled something as he rolled over onto his back and unwrapped one of his hands from Dante's back. Happily Dante left him as he sat up and looked around the bedroom where they were, his memories of getting there after waking up in the hospital were hazy. Shaking his head he pulled up the duvet over Luke before standing up and stepping out of the bedroom. Yawning and stretching his arms he walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water, his stomach growling like a wild animal. Sipping quietly on a glass Dante looked through the fridge in search of some food only to find a plastic bag full of groceries from Luke's sister. Smiling he pulled to bag out of the fridge and sifted through it so he could prepare a nice midday breakfast for Luke, his mind ringing with happy thoughts. Humming softly he cooked some bacon and eggs when all of a sudden he saw Luke standing in the doorway of his room, ruffling his hair as he yawned.

"Morning!" Dante yapped as he pulled out two plates and placed them on the counter.

"Good morning, how are you feeling?" Luke asked as he stepped over to the table where he sat down and smiled at Dante lovingly while the boy's soft fluffy hair fell over his happy eyes gently. His smile as bright as the sun.

"I feel amazing! How are you doing?" Dante replied as he plated the breakfasts and adjusted his loose trousers before walking over. He glanced up at Luke as he placed his plate in front of him, his eyes filled with amazement and happiness.

"I feel amazing too. I'm just glad you are ok though." Luke replied with a smile, still unsure of Dante really knew what had happened yesterday, he was bold and angry so it must have been his other personality.

"Why would I not be ok?" Dante asked innocently as Luke laughed and shook his head, turning to start eating what Dante had so kindly prepared.

"It's just a saying. I'm just glad you're with me, especially since you can stay here forever now. Or as long as you want to stay..." Luke trailed off as Dante looked towards him curiously, his eyes full off love and happiness.

"Forever." He replied sternly. "Forever or not at all." He smiled as Luke shook his head and turned to him with a small laugh.

"Forever it is then." He nodded before gesturing towards the food Dante had made. "This is amazing by the way." He added as Dante waved off his comment and continued to eat his own food.

"It is nothing much." He replied as he smiled and ate as well.

"Yeah but it's still amazing."

'I guess it is....'

Days ran into months and months turned to years. The FBI visited privately at first since Luke expressed concerns about Dante not remembering anything about the incident, but after a few visits they stopped all together and left them alone. Dante got registered fully and finally got his legal drivers licence, as well as getting trained to become a detective alongside Luke, all though he had to go through a few years of school just to become Luke's apprentice. When they finally began working together though Luke surprised Dante with their own personal police dog puppy, a German Shepard who Dante decided to call 'Alpha'. They soon trained him to act as a guard and general police dog but also a medical companion for Dante who never truly got back in touch with his other side. As Alpha grew bigger he continued to sleep beside Dante and Luke who only grew closer over the years, bonding over fun and tricky cases as well as the occasional late night nightmares that surfaced in Dante every now and then. After a few years Dante had met Luke's parents and gotten closer to them to a point where they were family. He and Luke would go to holiday dinners together and occasionally hold their own, so one Christmas day when Luke invited his whole family to the apartment it seemed normal. But when he got Alpha to drop a box into Dante's lap at the dinner table it sent the boy into tears as Luke got down on one knee beside him. Jumping into his arms as his family cheered and clapped. Sure neither of them were perfect and Dante definitely wasn't normal, but they had each other, and that was enough.
