Dante woke up breathless and covered in a thin layer of sweat as he stared around the softly lit bedroom where he laid, his body pressed against another as his grip increased on their back. He was scared, something felt wrong but he couldn't understand what was happening. A massive feeling of dread and pain ran through his body as he smothered his face in Luke's chest and cried quietly, stirring the other male awake.
"Wo. Hey, calm down. What's up?" Luke asked as he rubbed Dante's back softly and tried to calm the other boy down.
" I-I do not know... but something feels wrong, my chest hurts and my head hurts." Dante cried as Luke carefully sat up and lifted the boy into his lap so he could look down on him.
"It's ok, I'm here. Nothing bad is going to happen." Luke sighed as he Dante sniffed and held him tight, the blankets over them both falling down. "Just relax ok, you don't have to worry about Diablo anymore." Luke mumbled as he rubbed Dante's hair and shushed him quietly. Dante sat back confused as he looked into Luke's eyes, his own filled with confusion and tears.
"Oh god what did I do?" Dante chocked out as Luke shook his head quickly and smiled.
"No it was me, I'm going to get rid of him." Luke smiled as he pulled Dante in for one big hug. "After today you can stay with me, forever, or for as long as you want to stay." He mumbled, doubt filling his voice as Dante's heart fluttered and his mind ran with happiness and a mismatch of other emotions.
"Forever sounds amazing."
Luke left Dante in the apartment alone as he made his way to work, thinking about how he was going to deal with Diablo later today. Did the guy actually want Dante back or did he just want to get rid of loose ends. Either way he had agreed to Luke's terms and they were meeting at the location at ten o'clock that morning so Luke had to get to work and prepare before then. Driving into the car park he walked up to the main building and stepped inside to see more people than usual. Criminals were scattered across the bullpen while dozens were held in the large cell near the back wall, guarded by massive fully armoured guys with guns. Luke's anonymous tips had caused a massive round up of criminals across the city, decimating Diablo's ranks. Luke's apprentice ran up to him frantically as he carried a stack of files and smiled wide.
"Hey! I left some files on your desk related to your case on 'A', enjoy!" He stated as Luke watched them curiously, a hint of confusion running across his mind. He hadn't given them any files on Dante. Sighing and shrugging his shoulders he weaved his way over to his office before shutting the door and stepping inside as he shook off his suit coat and hung it up. Yawning and walking around his desk he noticed two files placed neatly on his desk, 'classified' written clearly across them. Sitting down and looking at them curiously Luke opened the one on top to see a picture of a man walking down the street. Then more pictures were plastered across the next few pages, all of the same man walking down the street casually. He looked normal enough, short brown hair, maybe around thirty years old, always wearing smart clothes. But who was he? Luke moved the file aside as he opened the second one up, breaking a seal to open it, proving no one else had read it. As soon as he opened it though he only saw a single sheet of paper with a statement written on it. It was a statement showing that 'A' was handing himself in and confessing to every murder he had ever done. Signed by someone called Harry Young. Luke stared at it confused as he looked at the previous file, searching for the owner of the pictures but they were given in anonymously, just like Luke's tips. Someone was covering up all of Dante's murders, but Luke didn't have time to figure out who it was. Ten o'clock had rolled around quickly and he needed to move out. Suddenly though someone walked into his office breathlessly.
"Sorry to intrude but officers just found another detective dead in her home. Fay Toronto." The officer reported as Luke stood quickly and grabbed his coat.
