WITH JACE GONE, the others made their way back to the institute. Alec's arm remained over Shay's shoulder and Izzy held onto her hand, both hoping to offer her some type of comfort.

"Do you think I should end it?"

Both Lightwood's looked at each other, having a silent conversation. Alec raised his eyebrows at Izzy and she nodded, allowing Alec to take the lead.

"End what Shay?"

"This thing, whatever you want to call it, between me and Jace."

"I think, you should do what you think is right. No one can tell you what to do because they don't know what your feeling. So if you think you should end things with Jace, then do it and me and Izzy will be there to support you."

By the time Alec had stopped talking, they had reached the institute. Izzy gave her parabatai's hand a squeeze and walked inside, thinking it best to leave the two alone. Shay looked up to Alec and held a smile on her face, one he gladly reciprocated.

"You promise you'll be there for me?"

"Always Henry."

She went on her tiptoes and wrapped her arms around Alec's neck, resting her head in the crook of it, and breathing in his scent, it always managed to calm her down and make her feel safe, while Alec's hands snaked their way around her waist, resting his head in the crook if her neck. It felt like forever before they pulled away, and the strawberry blonde still had a smile on her face.

"Who knew Alec Lightwood could be so good at giving advice."

He chuckled at her comment, and grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers, while walking into the institute and heading towards Shay's room.

"Only for you Shay Henry."

Before either could even walk towards Shay's room, Jace had bumped into both of them.

"Where have you been? I brought the girl back here, she was bitten by a demon and she passed out. Her name's Clary Fray and she's in Izzy's room. Follow me."
