BEFORE ALEC AND Shay could even think about leaving the institute, the strawberry blonde had noticed Jace and Clary standing by the screens with a mundane. She nudged Alec and pointed in their direction.

"Um Lightwood, I don't think we're going anywhere, which is a real shame because I love oranges."

She looked up at Alec and saw him try to hide a smile. She knew that following Jace wasn't going to end well, so rolling her eyes, she followed Alec in Jace's direction.

"What is going on? Why is there a mundane in the institute?"

"A pretty cute, in a nerd type way, mundane."

Both Jace and Alec stiffened hearing Shay's comment, both feeling jealousy. Ignoring Shay's comment Jace spoke up.

"A circle member followed him to get to Clary."

"A circle rune, just like the guys that took my mother."

"Wow thanks for clarifying that gingersnap, because we didn't already know that circle members have circle runes on their neck."

Alec nudged Shay in the side, gesturing for her to be quiet, and Shay just smiled, knowing that he did appreciate her comments, it just wasn't the time or the place for them. Simon chuckled at the girl and her comment before getting confused and scared towards the situation.

"What exactly is a circle member and why are they trying to kill us?"

"All we know is, a long time ago the circle led a revolt. A lot of shadowhunters got killed, including my father."

Shay placed a hand on the blonde boy's shoulder. They may not be on good terms, but she knew the pain of losing a parent. Jace looked at her with a small smile, accepting her comfort, even if it was only small.

"And since the revolt we've been forbidden to even hear about the circle."

"But how is that even possible? It's your history."

The Henry girl was growing rather bored hearing the two boys go on about the revolt, and so spoke up, offering a snide comment to the ginger girl.

"Says the girl who didnt know she was a shadowhunter."

Clary had already took a disliking towards this girl, not liking her sarcastic comments or how she was always around Jace. So throwing her a dirty look, she spoke back.

"Yeah, yeah you're right. And now the only person who knows the truth is missing, so I don't care about your rules or what's forbidden, there's got to be someone out there who can tell us why they've taken my mother."

During the ginger girls speech, Alec had grabbed Shay's hand and led her towards her parabatai, who was on the computers searching. Shay, who was excited to see her parabatai, let go of Alec's hand and wrapped her arms around Izzy's neck from behind, placing a kiss on her cheek which Izzy gladly accepted and smiled back at her. Alec looked towards the pair with a smile on his face.
