•chapter five•

EVERYONE WAS FOLLOWING Clary's lead. They were at pandemonium, walking around outside, looking out for any sign of Dot. Alec held tightly onto Shay's hand, making sure she was close incase demons made a show. Clary had stopped and gasped. Shay rolled her eyes, bored of hearing Clary gasp and tired of being out on a pointless mission.

"I swear if she keeps going that, I'm going to punch her."

Alec squeezed her hand, trying to calm her down, knowing that she was just annoyed as he was.

Clary had took off running, shouting Dot over and over again, causing everyone else to begin running, Alec dragging Shay behind him. She'd stopped running and pulled Alec to stop. She needed to rant to someone and she knew he would listen.

"I did not sign up for this when I agreed to help. I am not dressed to do this running crap and we're going in blind because she's the only one who knows what is actually going on. I'm freezing, my feet hurt and I want to go home and cuddle in my bed with you and watch films."

Alec looked at the girl in shock. He was not expecting her to just explode like that. Shay rarely spoke about her feelings, much the same as Alec, and hearing her do that made his heart jump, because she trusted him enough to talk about how she was feeling. When she mentioned she was freezing, he took off his jacket and wrapped it around her and watched Shay put her arms in it, snuggling into the jacket more, accepting its warmth.

"Shay, baby, I know this mission sucks. I don't like the fact that we don't know whats going on either but Jace is doing this one way or another and I'd prefer it if we were here as back up. I promise you that as soon as we get back to the institute I will grab the Mamma Mia DVD and we can cuddle up in your bed together and sing-a-long but can we please carry on so I don't lose sight of them, we have to stick together."

With that Shay nodded her head at Alec and grabbed his hand again, running after the others. As they reached the entrance to pandemonium, Clary broke off into a sprint, causing Jace to follow her, shouting after her.

"Clary, Clary stop! Where are you going?"

"Two men, Circle members, the same ones who came to my house, who took my mom. They have Dot. They're gonna hurt her or kill her. We have to stop them!"

Clary broke off sprinting again causing the rest of the group to follow her. Alec's hand was still in Shay's both running at the same speed, both annoyed at Clary and Jace. They came to a stop again after Clary saw that nobody was there.

"She was just trying to help me. Now she's gone."

"You over dramatise everything I swear."

Simon glared at the strawberry blonde before comforting Clary, knowing how close her and Dot had been.

"Clary, I'm so sorry."

"You don't understand. Dot's like my big sister."

Alec was getting rather annoyed and Shay could tell. The grip on her hand had tightened and when she looked up at him, he had an angry expression.
