To close one's eyes, and sleep. To enter a dreamland where anything is possible. To find a world where anything can, and will happen. What a simple, almost trivial thing it seemed to you.

Then you began to dream. You didn't dream of peaceful meadows and fluffy kittens. You didn't dream of gory figures and gruesome, blood-curdling screams, and you were grateful for that. But lately, your dreams had been only of him.

You never saw his face, hidden either by his hair or a passing shadow. You wondered if that was because the mind cannot create a unique face on its own...at least that's what Eirika told you when you asked her. No matter the cause, your dreamwalker's identity escaped you every night. You'd ask his name, and get only a soft chuckle in response before his fingers interlaced with yours once again.

He touched you in your dreams. Not terribly intimately, but he touched you. His fingers combed through your hair as you lay beneath a blossoming cherry tree, watching the pink petals drift away in the breeze. His arms wrapped around you, holding you tight as a fire threatened to ravage the grassy plain you found yourself in that night. And yet another night came, and that night his lips found yours in a gentle kiss. The way his mouth moved against yours was chaste, yet somehow needy, desperate for more.

You still had never seen his face, but cherished what knowledge you had of him. His hair was a royal blue, the color of the royal cloaks you so often saw worn in Askr. He dressed in robes of gold and midnight blue, robes that were seemingly made of starlight. He could tell what time it was in the real world, as he reluctantly motioned you to leave his side and rejoin the others in the morning. He was kind, greeting others seen in your dreamworld with a kind smile and helping wherever he could.

His lips were soft.

You awoke in the morning after one such dream, and began your usual routine. Say hello to the Heroes, collect your mail and presents from Feh, train with some of the others, and plan your next attack on Hel's realm. So much to do in so little time...what you wouldn't have given for five more minutes of rest.

What would he think of your life, your everyday activities? What would he think of your world, the place where you lived?

Throughout the day, your mind kept drifting back to the mysterious man in your dreams. Who was he? Why was he there? Where was he from? The endless, unvoiced questions permeated your thoughts, draining your energy and focus until all you wanted was for night to come, and sleep with it.

You grew tired with every passing minute, the strategy meeting suddenly seeming like a great place to take a nap as you scribbled on parchment, the forge looking like the perfect spot to close your eyes...after finishing the last lance, of course. You wanted to succumb, but you resisted. Eventually, the day drew to a close, and you fell gratefully into bed, a smile on your face when you finally surrendered to the night.

That night you dreamt of indigo, of starlight and worshipful kisses from silky lips, trailing down to your collarbone but never further. He sighed when your fingers laced into his hair, and whimpered when you pulled him closer.

That night he took you to the ocean, to white sand beaches and tide pools where unimaginable creatures resided. He showed you the constellations as they shone down upon the sea, and smiled as you eagerly pointed out Pegasus, Orion's belt, Ursa Minor. You danced on the shoreline with him, water splashing up around your legs, the moon a spotlight for your hidden performance.

You woke gently, no one to shake you to consciousness, or brave enough, anyway. The sun shone brightly, but everything seemed to take on a dull shine, not the usual golden gleam you were used to waking up to. It felt...incomplete. You missed the cool waves lapping at your feet, the mysterious figure laughing as he spun you around and around.

Your day passed as usual, but lacked its usual luster, the spark that turned a simple hello into a joyous greeting. You longed to return to the dreamworld you woke from, to meet him once again, to touch him.

It was evening when you and a few other Heroes went to the summoning stone. The stars were just beginning to appear, the scarlet reds and oranges of the sunset giving way to cool shades of blue and purple in the twilight. You chose an orb, not noticing or caring what color it was. Your last task of the day...then you could rest.

The stone glowed blue, a small rush of wind blowing through the summoning grounds. A new Hero, then...

When the dust cleared, a figure clad in blue stood before you. It couldn't be...

"My name is Seliph. I saw you in my dreams last night, didn't I?"
