Ari never liked to wear dresses. She never liked to wear make up and high heels, never liked to be involved in any too girly stuff, and above all, she mostly hated another thing; a blind date.
"Come on out Ari, your date may be impatient."
She grunted when she heard her aunt outside. Wala na syang magagawa. She took one last glance at the mirror before going out of her walk in closet.
Unfortunately, she's a damn rich young lady. Naiwan sa tita nya. Her parents was both out of the country for work. It wasn't actually a problem to her. Hindi naman sya kagaya ng mga madadramang teenagers na magtatampo sa magulang for being a way. She just doesn't get why both of them have to work so hard when she's their only child. The only unfortunate thing for her while being a rich ass is; her aunt and a bunch (literally a huge bunch) of clothes that she kept on buying her. Paulit ulit nya nang sinasabi na pagsasayang lamang ito ng pera dahil hindi nya naman nasusuot.
She made a face while looking at the mirror. She's wearing a peach colored off shoulder dress, above the knee long and its just making her really uncomfortable because even though the skirt isn't hugging her waist down up to her legs, the top was fitted enough to show her petite body.
Not that having a flat chest is a big deal to her (she doesn't feel like she need it anyway) it's just feels like she's showing too much skin and shape.
And she feels digusted.
"Ari! Quit it already. We need to do your make up."
She grunted once more and opened the door, rolling her eyes.
She forced a quick smile before receiving the expected squeek from her aunt.
"You look so pretty!"
She wanted to puke. Hindi nya pa inaamin, pero alam nyang alam na ng auntie nya kung ano sya.
Not that its really a big deal for her to keep. She just doesn't want to have a dramatic conversation to her loved ones about it. She knew she doesnt need to voice it out. They all knew her so well. Wala namang nagpupumigil sa kanya except her aunt who never stopped to indirectly divert her sexual prefferences.
Wala talagang prankang communication except-- "Tita, you know how I hated these kind of stuff." She told her before sitting down in front of the mirror. She scoffed. "These make ups make me feel itchy. Its uncomfortable."
She really hates it.
She just wished she never turned twenty. Ito kasi ang edad na magsimula nang mabahala ang tita nya dahil wala manlang daw itong pinakikilalang lalaki (which made her roll her eyes with the thought) her aunt was acting all innocent where she knew she was different.
One time, she had a crush on junior high. Foundation day nila at naiwan nya ang lunch nya sa bahay. She dislike the food at the cafeteria so she asked for her aunt to bring over some foods --- through the maids bringing them over of course. Unfortunately, her aunt decided to do it herself withouther notice at tumaming ito dahil nang pagdating ng auntie nya sa classroom ay dalawa silang babae na solo doon. She confessed to that specific girl and kissed her cheeks. She was shocked to see her aunt ngunit ang tanging sinabi nito ay, "Here's your lunch Ari. Invite your bestfriend to come over and have lunch with us. I'd like to hear if you might have guy crushes na."
She was a bit guilty about it but, she really couldn't change herself. Hanging out with a man disgust her.
To put the guilt away, (because she knew somehow her gender hurts her) pumayag sya sa unang beses na i-set sya nito ng blind date.
The date was a disaster. After her aunt left the restaurant, her date told her about himself. He was a graduating college student. Engineer. He loves sports. He also loves to travel. When he asked her about herself, she immediately dropped the bomb. The guy was completely shocked. After a few seconds, he doesn't have any idea what to do next. He asked her if there's still a chance to change her gender, and that got her offended.
Yes, she's a lesbian. But that doesn't mean she committed a crime to be looked at as a mistake.
She left the place. The guy followed her but gave up eventually. But before letting her go, he heard him saying, "Ang lakas maginarte, tomboy naman."
Her jaw dropped and shouted back. "Cheap!"
That's the highest insult she could give before heading somewhere else. Cheap naman talaga ito para sa kanya for stooping to low to the level she expected of him. A college graduating but isn't open minded? How the fuck is he graduating? She thought. She just had the whole night for herself and enjoyed it instead.
After the make up session, she stood up. Her aunt has the same reaction everytime she's finished. Pinasuot sya nito ng white na two inch heels. With a golden chain wrapped around her ankle to keep it intact with her feet.
Good. She thought. I might kick ass again tonight.
She remembered she also got this date before. The guy brought her to a bar. Napapairap nalang sya. Akala siguro nito ay inosente sya sa mga ganon. She just sighed before pouring down one glass of alcohol in his head. His jaw dropped. She knew it has some drugs on it.
"I'm not stupid."
She attempted to leave but the guy was desperate. Hinila sya nito sa may parking lot. Sa madilim na parte. She was almost raped but the man inside her saved her. Maybe she's a girl, but her determination and drive was like a man's. After leaving the guy crumpled, holding his, she left the place.
That's the worst thing that happened. She's kinda traumatized and disguted. Made her hate men and agreed completely that they are trash. (The one without manners only though) The blind date continues like it's a cycle. She's dropping them the bomb and after, she leaves them. Minsan nagiging kaibigan, but then they will start making a move on her, getting their tickets to loose their connections with her.
Hindi nalang sya masyadong umimik nang sumakay ng kotse. She was confused when she realized they were heading towards a different restaurant like the usual.
Her aunt was like a ball of sunshine. Napansin ata nito ang pagtataka nya kung kaya't nagsalita ito. "I have a great feeling today. This may be it."
She crossed her arms. Umiling. She wanted to puke.
--
She appreciated her aunt trying, but goddamn, no.
Umupo na sya sa tapat ng lalaki. Another freaking mestiso guy. It was so cringy for her. Masyado itong malinis tingnan. Like a cow licked his hair and his polo shirt was ironed very well. Medyo payat nga lang ito na parang kayang kaya pitikin. Mukhang lambutin pa.
So this is what her aunt was telling. . .the 'it'.
Gusto nyang humalakhak ng malakas but that may make him feel like she's insulting her so she stopped and composed herself.
"Ikaw na bahala sa pamangkin ko iho ha, take a good care of her. Make sure you'll take her home before twelve," her aunt squeezed her hand. "I really hope ikaw na ang unang lalaking maghahatid sa kanya pauwi. Every guy she dates were always a fail!"
Gusto nyang umirap. Of course.
After the short (pleading) discussion, her aunt stood up and bid them goodbye.
She watched as their car drove away. She crossed her arms. Sumandal sa upuan.
"Tell me about yourself." She told him with a straight face. Alam na alam nya na ang ganitong eksena.
"I-I'm an artist. I do cosplays and--"
She cut him off. "Okay," umupo sya ng maayos. "I'll make this fast, I'm not interested."
Naningkit ang mata ng lalaki. She continued. "I'm a lesbian."
Much more to her surprise, the guys' jaw dropped. And flipped his invisible long hair.
"Gosh girl buti nalang! Kanina ko pa hindi kinikeri!"
