Today was the day. Gena's funeral. Xavier had no desire to say goodbye to his little sister, but he had no choice. He was going to remember her for who she was. Tears, pain, and all. Xavier walked into the sanctuary and nearly stopped breathing. people he had never met before surrounded him. He knew only Gena's immediate family from visits he had made to their house. However, many of them had heard of him. Connor Smith, a high school junior came and told Xavier what Gena had done for him. Kendall hugged Xavier and handed him the note Gena had written to him. Eli even came to say he was sorry. Xavier wanted to tell Eli that this was all his fault for harassing Gena with his harmful touch, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Xavier could see the tears in Eli's eyes.

Xavier also met Austin and Caden at the funeral. He could see how broken and guilty they already were so he didn't yell at them either. So many people there had loved Gena as much as he had, and yet none of them had ever thought to tell her, or make her feel loved in any sense of the word. Xavier knew that if Gena had felt loved by any of these people, she wouldn't have done what she did. She would have lived on, regardless of her pain. There was nothing he could do now.

Xavier sat through the service, crying almost the entire time. She was gone.
