It was a sunny day in California.

The sun feverishly beats down on my back as I take my morning jog.

I can't help but let my mind wonder to six months ago when the ground in Michigan was covered in snow.

The sidewalks yearned to breath fresh air, but were trapped by the thick sheet of ice and as much as they tried, they couldn't catch their breath.

Meryl running after me, but slipping on the ice.

She had sat there a while.

-

A week after leaving Meryl, I arrived in California and lived with Val for a month until I was able to find my own place.

Now, I'm a judge on Dancing With The Stars (which is tonight) and single. I was hoping to meet someone new but no luck so far.

I can't think about anyone but Meryl.

-

I jog past a church.

The mosaic windows reflect dancing colors into the street.

They remind me if Meryl: bright, beautiful, alive.

I wondered where she was now?

What did she look like?

Is she broken too?

-

I jog past an old, abandoned, crumbling building and see that the windows are all shattered.

I realize that I am just like those windows.

Broken.
