In what modern terms can describe as "paganism" to group together the pantheons of a pre-Christianity world, there were gods and goddesses used to represent most, if not all, objects and ideas. Because of these rules, their respective pantheons were usually large and had a god or goddess fulfilling a role. Terra Mater, or Earth Mother, of the Roman pantheon was...the Earth, plain and simple. Her hair is as green and lush as the trees that grown upon her surface. Her skin was filled with life and a light olive like the dirt farmers plant their food in. The clothes that covered her womanly features were formed from rock; hard to break, yet smooth and supple.
Terra is the Earth; beautiful, yet strong. And to keep her beauty from falling into neglect, two deities were made to keep Terra as beautiful and strong as many believe her to be; Sylvanus, the benevolent spirit of the forest, and Y/n, the "benevolent" spirit of the forest. With Y/n, the term "benevolent" is used very loosely. Should one respect what Terra offers, whether it be trees or animals or water from the rivers, so long as one gives back to Terra, Y/n rewards those who do with boons that turn a peasant into an emperor. However, should one not to pay respects or dare disrespect Terra, and Y/n would allow the animals to claim back the land they gave.
Sylvanus and Y/n representing opposite ends of caring for nature, the two, appearance wise, also the opposite ends of the age spectrum resulting in their way of thinking. Sylvanus had the appearance of an old, wise man that sees what kindness to the mortals can bring; peace and harmony. While Y/n also believes in kindness to the mortals, as most deities do, Y/n proposed the notion of punishments to keep the mortals away from the thought of them being lax, something Sylvanus agreed upon.
Through Sylvanus and Y/n, mortals did their best to respect nature and its many gifts. Hunting what they need, tending to plants, and no murdering of one's fellow man in the forest sometimes led to Y/n and/or Sylvanus themselves to reveal themselves to mortals to provide blessings from themselves or party. And as nature grew healthier and beautiful, so too did Terra.
On one day, Terra took human form to join in a nearby village that revered both Sylvanus and Y/n, and by extension, Terra. Mother Earth had felt her the believers' prayers in her and traveled to its main source, which would be rural villages that highly depended on agriculture and hunting. Upon her arrival, it didn't take long for people to notice to her, as Terra did have quite the unique appearance. And even if she were to dress normally like any mortal, her hair would give it away since it had shades of white and green to represent the snow and trees, mixed with a majority brown. The villagers weren't the only one to notice Terra's arrival as the sound of trees moving from the nearby forest revealed a treant with amber sap eyes walking towards the village with an old man with short, grey hair but a bushy beard sat on top of the treant's head arrived as the villagers couldn't help but be awestruck.
Sylvanus: Ah, Terra! An unexpected arrival, but one these people and I are welcome to have! I am Sylvanus, one of two guardians of the forest!
Terra: One of two? Sylvanus and *points at the treant* Y/n?
Sylvanus: Him? Oh no. This is Grover!
Grover: *unintelligible noises*
Sylvanus: Speaking of Y/n, where is that young lad?
Hearing the sound of very faint horse galloping, Sylvanus and Terra, along with the villagers, saw a white horse leapt from the forest and landed near them. Its rider was none other than Y/n, where it looked like if you call upon his name he arrives on a white horse. While part of Sylvanus' name offers a title to the fictional Elven race, "Sylvans", Y/n gave the Elven race their appearance. Y/n had the point ears, the slender build, sharp and narrow eyes, face markings, long (h/c) hair, and occasionally mono-colored (h/c) eyes that glowed. And like all elves, to those that had the honor of meeting him, both men and women couldn't help but be entranced by the deity, and Terra was no exception. Her emerald gaze just couldn't tear itself away from the elven-like deity as the horse he mounted carried him over to Sylvanus' side.
