There have been many heroic tales told of legends and gods; Heracles, Dionysus, Helen, and many more legends and tales does the Ancient Greek world have under its belt. Yet, there was an uncomfortable truth to these fables; they all were from children of Zeus. Now, it wouldn't be a problem if Zeus was the average husband, there wouldn't be such a huss or fuss. But he wasn't. Zeus was the Greek King of the Gods and as a king, he thought whatever the sun touched was his, including people. His marriage to Hera was about as solid as a wet piece of paper as one of Zeus' sexual escapades was captured in the poem, Leda and the Swan.
While Zeus does as his does and has sex with every possible beautiful mortal alive, Hera sits alone on the throne of Mount Olympus, being the one true ruler of all the gods. And as she sits on her marble throne, her posture signaling her boredom, as she observed the affairs of the mortals, especially sons and daughters of Zeus. She didn't hate the people that they are, no one could, she hated what they are and what they are is what she could've had if she had a faithful husband. She counts every legitimate son and daughter of Zeus and the list grows on and on and on, she may end up falling asleep for all eternity by trying to recount how many bastard children Zeus produces.
Preferring not to sit in silence anymore, Hera snapped her fingers as a portal opened as a Greek soldier sporting colors that didn't align him with either Greece or Sparta. This soldier was Y/n, Son of Alexander III of Macedon. Now, why would Hera summon to the throne of Mount Olympus a son of Alexander the Great, who was a son of Zeus? Well, Hera knows Y/n's father wasn't a son of Zeus, but instead used that title to gain influence, which even Hera thought was smart. Taking pity on one of the many sons of Alexander III, Hera raised Y/n as her own in secret like Gaia raising Zeus, molding him to be a great warrior and king of either Sparta or Athens so that he may be like his father.
During the Trojan War, she had played favorites in Y/n, saving him from death by turning those that would kill him into animals or, gods forbid, gave Y/n command of Argus, Hera's personal autonomous servant. She saw her adopted son killed many Trojans on the battlefield, even going so far as to stand toe-to-toe with the God of War himself, only surviving because of Hera and no one else.
Y/n: Mother.
Hera: Son. I hope I didn't call you here on an inconvenient time.
Y/n: No time is inconvenient when family is involved. Why did you call me here?
Hera: Can't a mother check on her own son? Especially one whose life is in danger such as yours.
Y/n's goal in life was to claim back what his father had lost, so that it may be governed under him. He already had control of Macedon and Greece, but resistance in Persia's Seleucid Empire and Egypt's Ptolemaic Dynasty are bent on keeping the territories for themselves. While Greek phylakes have their stake in Egypt with Greek cities such as Alexandria, named after Y/n's father, it was the Seleucids he had the most trouble with. For starters; Greece and Persia aren't that far apart, so a consideration for an invasion would be expected, but only a matter of "who?" Y/n pulled the trigger on the proverbial gun first.
Y/n: I'm fine, mother. What is there to worry about?
Hera: All of Greece nearly became a Persian state once. I want to make sure you're ready to squash those Persians, burn them out of their hiding holes and slaughter them like goats.
Y/n: I am prepared to do whatever it takes to get what was once my father's.
Hera: If and when you become king, I only allow you to have one wife.
Y/n: That's...an odd request.
Hera: Two reasons. The first; the only reason those territories your fighting for belong into the hands they belong in was because your father had too many sons spread out. Disputes drew from who became his next successor until I helped you rise to power to become king. The second; I don't want to deal with my son who thinks he's like my husband, if you can even call him that.
