Softly- Time with Jared (English Version)

Chapter 17 - the right choice?

Sam woke up first the next day, he decided to get them something to eat breakfast. On his cell phone he saw that everyone in the band was trying to reach him all night. When he had to listen to the voicemail, he couldn't hold back his tears. Jared screamed, cried, begged, everyone else sounded panic-stricken.

So he decided to call Shannon for a moment against the agreement with Rachel. He answered immediately and before he could ask where they were, switched Sam on directly and said that they had to accept Rachel's decision please. For them this is the only way out at the moment, but he would try to send a message from time to time so they know it's all good. But they shouldn't try to track them down. Shan picked up the information and wanted to hang up the question when Jared fell into his room like a savage, hearing Shannon on the phone. He ripped his cell phone out of his hand, sobbing, and immediately asked for Rachel. Sam just said he was sorry and hung up.

He couldn't stand a conversation with Jared. He hoped Shannon would tell him everything right and give some hope to the others. He himself had set his mind on carefully getting Rachel to walk towards Jared again and again.   

With breakfast and 1,000 thoughts in his head, he arrived back at the motel. In the meantime Rachel was awake and much paler than the day before. Her eyes were howled, she seemed like a pile of misery. Sam saw that she was holding a picture of herself and Jay in her hand. "Did we do Sam right?" she asked him. "I don't know, he loves you Rachel and he will miss you, worry," he replied.

She turned her head away and mumbled "After what I did to him, I can't go back anyway".   

She took Sam's arm and they ate something. Rachel didn't get much down, but Sam forced her to eat for the baby. Then they sat back in the car and drove on. Late at night and some phone terror later, they finally arrived at Sam's parents. They greeted them warmly, asked no questions and brought them both to the guest room where they fell asleep quickly.

Rachel used the next few weeks to concentrate fully on the baby, to take care of all the appointments and to keep her distance. In addition, she threw herself into photos of everything that the surroundings had to offer in order to have as little time as possible for reflection.

Sam took care of his apartment in LA which he first rented to a buddy, then he took care of a small house in the same street as his parents so that Rachel could settle in. From time to time he sent a short message to the band to tell them it was all good. But he didn't respond to phone calls or anything like that.

At the same time, Jared was getting worse in LA. He wrote many songs to process his grief, but nothing could fill the void in him. He started to drink a lot, got irascible and let a lot of appointments go by. Every time a message came in from Sam he hoped that he would write that they would come back.   

The others were very worried about Jared and tried to reach Sam to tell them where they both were. They just had to find them because they feared that Jared would not last much longer. When he was caught drugged one night by Shannon while he was posting on his profile that he left the band and didn't want to live anymore, Emma couldn't stand it anymore and hired a private detective. Jared put her in a rehab clinic for his own safety and explained online that the band took a creative break.
