5. This or Nothing

Here is Luna, the girl to deny a conversation through a window with a boy but agreed to sneak out and explore the streets at 11:30 at night. With said boy.

Running a hand through my hair, I almost turned around and chickened out on the whole thing as we walked further away from the house. If it weren't for the challenging stare from Javis, I would've done so.

"How am I supposed to know you won't suffocate me in a bag and throw me in the boot of your car?" I peered at him suspiciously. He glances down at me.

"Well, for one, we're not going in a car, are we? And two, I doubt I could get my hands on you before you beat me down to a pulp."

That wasn't true. The more I thought about it, the more I realised how stupid I was. The strength oozing from his lean body was enough to tell me who had the upper hand.

And yet the thrill of walking through empty streets at such a late hour sent exciting shivers up and down my spine.

Cons definitely won.

But pros were too irresistible.

A few moments pass.

"You force me to sneak out with you and now we're stuck in awkward silence?"

"Technically, no, I did not force you. I simply encouraged you to make the decision I wanted you to." He keeps his face neutral, only working to piss me off even more.

"Your peanut shell of a brain just can't seem to comprehend the damn point, can it?" Why did I always seem to ask more questions rather than have an actual civil conversation with this guy?

"Of course I understand the point. It's just my decision whether to respond to it or not." He turns to face me and I feel the urge to slap him. Regaining some self control, I pointed a menacing glare. Before I could turn back in the direction of home, he grabs hold of my shoulders. Even the most careless of his stares seem to bore into my being. "Relax, I've got a surprise."

Shrugging his hands off my burning skin, I huffed and compliantly followed him. The streets were nothing new to me, so I didn't panic just yet.

I'd like to reassure myself that I knew this neighbourhood more than he did. Maybe about a 10 minute run to the police station. 20 minute run to home considering how far we've gone. Exactly 13 minutes to some form of petrol station that is bound to have some kind of co-operating human being.

It'll be fine.

"What school do you go to anyway?" Might as well make the best out of it. I didn't tag along to be bored out of my mind.

Intelligent, amused eyes met my own in a locked gaze.

"Meltose High."

"No way. What the shit?" This guy, cocky, annoying, asshole goes to one of the most prestigious and academically profound schools in the region. I mean, I guess that explains the arrogance.

He smirks at my shock. I realised I must be inflating his ego so I turn away, crossing my arms over my chest.

"What are you doing all the way here?"

"I live here." He says as if it was obvious.

"Here as in right on this street as a hobo or here as in..."

"Would you have accepted my offer if I was a hobo?" He provokes.

"You're not making my decision to come any less regrettable."

He turns to me, smiling. "So you've admitted the fact that you chose to come with me? There, you see, character development."

I turn away from his face, not given the chance to tell him the only thing developing will be a bruise on his eye when my knuckle collides with it.
