“You’re telling me.” The blonde guy said. He was pressing the buttons frantically.

“Stop! You’re gonna make it worse.” I said, grabbing his hands. He stopped and turned to face me. Wow, he was tall. And the way his perfect blonde hair fell over his gorgeous hazel eyes. And his mus-

“Um,” He said, looking down. I looked down, too, to notice I was still holding both of his hands.

“Oh, sorry.” I blushed. I let go of his hands just when an operator’s voice came out from elevator’s speaker.

“So it seems like the elevator has stopped. I just called repair man, so he’ll be around in about an hour or so.” The man said. I pressed the microphone button.

“What?! An hour?! What are we supposed to do till then? I have to meet my friends and then head home.” I shouted in frustration.

“Yeah me too.” The blonde guy said. The operator’s voice came back out from the speaker.

“Sorry guys. He’s busy. In the meantime, you guys can talk and get to know each other. I’m guessing you two are strangers, right? I’ll be back in a little while. Have fun.” And with that his voice was gone.

“Oh hell no! You come back this instant and get me out of this elevator!” I shouted in the microphone. I could tell he was gone for real, so I sighed and slid my back down against the wall of the small elevator, until I was sitting on the floor. I looked up to see the blonde guy hit his head on wall.

“Um, you shouldn’t do that. I don’t wanna be in here as much as you do. Maybe you should sit down.” I said, trying to be calm. Obviously he was mad and scared.

“Don’t tell me what to do!” He snapped, shocking me.

“Well excuse me. I should be the one snapping at you. Once you got in here, the elevator broke down.” I barked.

“You can’t seriously be blaming me?” He said, pacing the small elevator, stepping on me a few times.

“Well, I am, and can you please sit down?”

The blonde guy sighed and then sat down across from me, stretching out his longs legs.

“Isn’t that better?” I said, trying to be calm again. The blonde guy tilted his head back and rubbed his neck.

“I guess so. Sorry about that, I’m just really afraid of being in small spaces.” He said.

“Yeah, I’m sorry too. I mean, it can’t be your entire fault that the elevator stopped.” I said. The blonde guy laughed a little, showing off his million dollar smile once again. I tried not to blush. “Oh, I just remembered, my cell phone!” I exclaimed. I dug into my bag and fished out my phone. As I unlocked it, my hopes dropped when I saw the sign that meant no service.

“Crap. No service. What about you?”

The blonde guy took out his phone from his own pocket and checked it.

“Nope.” He answered. I let out a sigh and tilted my own head back. “This sucks.” He muttered.

“Tell me about it.” I said. We sat in silence for a little while, not bothering to say anything to each other. Occasionally, I would steal glances at him, but would turn away quickly when I saw him looking at me. Then the thought came to me. I didn’t even know his name.

Like he read my mind, the guy broke the silence.

“I’m Ross.” He said, extending his hand. I took it and smiled.

“I’m Dani.” I said. Ross smiled as we shook hands. I swear I felt something pass through me.

“I like it. It’s unique, kind of like your ‘speak your mind’ attitude.” He laughed. I giggled a little and felt my cheeks get hot, as I managed to say a small ‘thank you’.
