“No way! He gave you his number and told you that you mesmerize him?” Emily practically screamed on the bus ride home.
“Shhhhhhhh!” I said, covering her mouth with my hand. I looked around to see we only attracted two people from the almost empty bus we were riding in.
“I can’t believe it. You two are gonna fall in love and have one of those cute summer romances.” She whispered.
“Yeah. Next thing you know, you two will be getting married on the beach. Of course Emily will be the maid of honor and I will be the best man.”Chadsaid beside me.
“OhChad, don’t be ridiculous. You know that this Ross guy will probably have a best friend or a brother as his best man.” Emily babbled.
“Oh yeah, you’re right. Then I guess I’ll be one of the giving you away, you know since we’ve been friends for like ever, and your dad is not in your life anymore, oh and your step dad is a stupid conceded jerk.”Chadwent on. “Or, I could be the flower guy, you know like a flower girl, but a guy and I could throw flowers everywhere.”
“Ooo that sounds awesome.” Emily said. I slumped in my seat between them and buried my head in my hands.
“Guys, please stop.” I said. They kept on. “Guys!”
“Oops, sorry.” They said.
“About your predictions, Emily, summer is almost over andChad, we are not getting married.” I paused and thought about what I said for a moment and then rephrased. “I mean, I’m not getting married. Ever.”
“Hun, is this about your dad leaving you and your mom.”Chadsaid, draping a reassuring arm over my shoulder.
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” I said. We were quiet until the bus stopped.
“This is your stop.” I said toChad. He got up and gave me and Emily a hug.
“See you two tomorrow.” He said before hoping off the bus. A few minutes later, me and Emily got off at our stop.
“Do you wanna sleep over?” I asked Emily.
“Of course. Let me just call my mom.” She said.
While Emily trailed behind me on the phone with her mom, I walked up the large pathway that led to my step dad and mom’s way, over the top, house.
“Mom! I’m home!” I called opening and closing the door behind me and Emily.
“I need to talk to you right now. It’s very important.” She said, as she came over to great me and Emily. “Em, sweetie, you can go upstairs to Daniela’s room while I talk to her.”
“Sure.” She replied, before skipping up the large stairway that led to my room.
My mom turned to me.
“Can I help you?” I asked.
