I watch your peaceful state,
Feeling peace within.
Your chest rises and falls, your gentle breath the only noise.
The occasional ringing bell
As the cat leaps around.
I keep myself close in hopes
To defend against the biting cold,
Providing you my warmth.
The sun slowly rises,
Chasing the darkness away
As you do for me
In my darkest moments.
Cars start to pass by,
On their ways to work.
I stay with you,
Drifting,
In and out of sleep.
Each time I wake,
You're still there,
Sleeping soundly.
