Zeke Mystere had hidden himself well. By the time I had finally found him, two days had passed. The jet lag didn't help, either.

Q had been sending me videos of Kotoko and her current living arrangements. I had made a note to punish Griffin for leaving Q to do his job and look after Kotoko, which I knew would've left him very busy. Kotoko visited him enough during my work hours.

I pushed open the door and looked around. The place seemed abandoned, but Q had informed me that this was likely a disguise. Zeke was likely hiding behind a hidden wall.

It didn't take long to find him; a man with white hair and icy blue eyes emerged from one of the doorways. I identified him as Zeke Mystere.

"You're not with Moonlight." He said with a thick Scottish accent, likely to blend in with the locals. "Who're you with?"

"Interpol." I stated firmly. "I'm here because I heard your name in a... meeting."

"Aye, they're still talking about me?" Mr. Mystere sat down, coughing into his hand. "I hope you're not here to arrest me."

"I'm afraid to tell you that this meeting was between members of Moonlight..." I began, "... Which I know you were a part of."

"If they're after revenge, they've got it." Mr. Mystere gestured to his sickened state. "A slow killer, that poison. It's why I moved out here for my final days. All for a little... disobeying."

I sat down opposite him. "I'm here to find the leader. I understand her name is Fiona Walker-"

"Take my advice." He told me sternly, "Stay away from that woman. She brings nothing but pain. I couldn't tell you where she is, anyway."

"You're protecting someone." I said with a smirk. "I've seen those pained eyes before... I can keep them safe. I promise."

Mr. Mystere nodded to himself. "She's plenty strong, my Zero. She's just a bairn..." He coughed some more, "... But she'll help. I taught her everything she knows."

"Where can I find her?" I leaned closer, noticing that he was growing paler by the minute.

"Pinsdale. She has staff around to supervise her, but she's likely got her own room. It's hard to gain entry... the staff and her aren't very fond of outsiders," He explained, "But... you're Interpol. I'm sure you can figure it out."

Mr. Mystere coughed rapidly, taking a few moments to calm down. "She... she can take you to Greyerl... she knows about... Greyerl..."

"A-Are you alright, Mr. Mystere?" I asked him with a frown. "Do you require medical assistance-?"

"Nah, I'm fine, lass." He assured me, "I think it's getting close to my time. Too bad I have to go out in pain..."

Mr. Mystere eyed my gun in my holster. I kept my hand close to it, in case he tried anything.

"A gunshot is less painful than dying like this." Mr. Mystere looked me in the eye, "You're clearly not using it-" He stood up and tried to grab my gun, but I quickly moved away.

"What about your daughter?" I narrowed my eyes, "Wouldn't she miss her father?"

"Didn't you hear me? I haven't got long to live." He said, sighing. "I've got no chance to see her again... not like she'd want to see me, anyway. Come on, nobody will know..."

I looked down at my gun again. He did look like he was telling the truth - his condition was worsening by the minute. If he wanted to see his daughter, he would've gone before... right?

I eventually handed my gun over to him and turned to leave. "Is there... anything you wanted to say to your daughter?" I asked him.

Mr. Mystere hesitated for a second. "Tell her... tell her that I'm sorry for everything. She'll understand."

I heard the click of the trigger and ran outside immediately; I didn't bother to fetch my gun. Q could easily make me another one.

- Interpol HQ -
- Drew Self's POV -

I followed X and Joe around the new department, courtesy of X. It had recently finished building, so he was taking us on a guided tour of the place.

"How did you manage to find the budget for this place?" I asked him, gazing at all the expensive equipment.

"Oh, they would've never let me fund this place!" X said with a grin, "I managed to find some benefactors in the private sector to fund it."

"Too bad you lost the vote, X." Joe patted him on the back in pity. "It was almost unanimous..."

"They'll soon change their minds!" X hopefully beamed, "I'm sure of it... my presentation just wasn't convincing enough..."

"I hope you understand that all of this... intelligence stuff concerns me," Joe began, quieting his voice. "Who's going to have access to this stuff, anyway?"

"I-It's far better than endangering people's lives, Sir-!" X argued back, making me jump. "Trust me... machines obey orders far more than people do."

"But all of our agents are doing their job..." I muttered, confused. Sometimes people would forget that I'm there. And Joe doesn't have the time to explain it me...

"No?" X tilted his head, "I'm sure I saw D up in Scotland, though... didn't Q tell you? Or has he been a bit devious as well?"

Joe's face scrunched up in anger. "He... He told me she was at home. Where did you get this information from-?!"

X showed us an app on his phone, displaying everyone's location. Sure enough, D's location was in Scotland.

"Maybe she's on holiday with Kotoko...?" I suggested to Joe. "They're allowed holidays, X!"

"Yes, but she's been traveling an awful lot lately..." X pointed out, "... She was in Italy the other day. Are you sure she's not doing an investigation of her own?"

I squeezed Joe's hand in an attempt to calm him down. "I'm sure she has a good reason... we can talk this over later."

He sighed. "Alright, I'll back off just for now. Thank you, X..." Joe said, smiling at him. "... I'll look at this later."

X waved us goodbye, disappearing into the various rooms of the facility. I could tell by Joe's obvious anger that he didn't like this whole thing one bit.
