The dead leaves of the forest floor crunched beneath my feet. The cool breeze blew my hair to the side. The forest was calm.
The wind blew faster. The sound of growling emitted from behind me. My heart began to beat faster. My pace quickened. I looked back to see a tall, slim, dark figure following fairly close behind me.
The figure towered over me, leaving me in its shadow. It had long, lanky limbs. Its fingers were long and spindly. They ended in pointed, razor-sharp, dagger-like nails that looked at least six inches long. I couldn't see its face clearly.
My pace quickened into a jog. It got closer. I then began to run. It got even closer. I began sprinting. It was almost right behind me. My legs went faster and faster until I felt like my lungs felt they were about to burst and my heart was nearly beating out of my chest.
I lost my footing and tripped. The thing's long, slender, ice-cold fingers wrapped around my wrist and it lifted me up. Its face was a blur, its features only slightly discernible.
It stared at me with its blurred eyes, its expression completely stoic. Still lacking expression and staring into my eyes, it plunged its sharp, claw-like nails into my stomach. Then, it did it again. And again. And again. Over and over, again and again, all whilst it remained silent and stoic.
It dropped me back onto the cold ground and walked away, leaving me for dead. It felt like hours had passed, hours of excruciating pain. Then, all I could feel was numbness. Maybe it was shock, maybe the pain was just too much and numbness was my only way to bear it. I didn't know, my thoughts weren't making sense, my head hurt, my ears rang, I couldn't move. All I could do was lay there, fading away.
