"...Open up."
Said a voice from outside the door. This startled the girl, causing her to jump out of her chair immediately and try to wake up to the knight, before she could, the voice spoke again.
"I don't mean harm, I am alone, I swear."
She knew this wasn't the head guard, Danny, this voice seemed younger. She peeked her head through the window of the door, noticing a small guard, his sword gone from his sheath but his helmet remained on.
"Helmet off. Then I will allow you in." She demanded. The guard sighed before removing his helmet, satisfying her. She moved the chair and opened the door, cracking it open.
He opened the door fully, entering without waiting for her to check outside. She backs up, pulling her sword out which makes him put his hands in front of him, "Easy." He said, using one hand to close the door behind him.
She continued to keep her sword out, glancing at the door back to him. She growled before returning her sword to her sheath.
"What do you want?" She questions, waving her hand at him to make him move as she puts the chair back under the doorknob.
"I'm here to inform you about recent events." He said politely, smiling at the girl.
"You here to tell me of my execution?" She asked, putting her hands on her hips as she looked at him, seeming pissed and annoyed.
"No, well, unless the head guard of this village decides to. You caused damage to our home." He told her, which she quickly shut down.
"I did not. Me personally, did not lay a single finger on your people, there is no purpose for me to do so, unless attacked." She said, furrowing her brows down, her face turning angry, "Your head guard, was dumb to trust me, I tried to leave without trouble or word, but he consistently wished to speak with me."
"Well that's because he wanted to make sure you wouldn't come back to slaughter us in our sleep." He simply said.
"Why and the hell would I do that? That's a ridiculous thing to do, what would I gain from that? Nothing, that's what." She balled her hands into fists, huffing out air from her nose before continuing, "I notice the way the big guard looks at me, along with the others. They see my armor and immediately think i'm them, well guess what, i'm not, i'm really not." She said, calming down a bit at the end.
"I believe that you're good." He said, keeping his positive and happy attitude.
"I know- wait, seriously?" This heavily confuses the girl, causing her to snap her head back to look at the guard.
"Mhm! You proved that today during the battle. From what I saw, you were not only defending yourself, but the other people in our village. And, you also helped out our head guard." He said, listing some of the things she did.
"Yes, those are true." Was all the girl said before going over to the knight on the bed, seeing if his wounds were doing better.
"How long are you gonna stay in the village?" He asked, watching as she examined the young knight's wounds.
"Not long. After this one's able to walk, we are leaving." She said, walking away from the two as she searches the cabinets and barrels in the house, taking items that she would need or just wants.
"Are you stealing from this house?" The small guard asked, the girl just shrugged.
"Wouldn't exactly call this 'stealing', more just borrowing so we don't die." She said as she found a bag, putting all of her collected items into the bag.
"I think that's stealing-."
"Shut up before I burn this house down with both of us in it." She threatened, annoyed by the guard, wanting him to leave already.
"Do that and the knight over there burns with us." He said blankly, making the girl turn to the boy and sigh.
"Will you leave already? I'm tired of you being here." She spat, earning a shrug from the guard.
"I'll stay as long as I like, this is after all my village." He said with a bright smile.
"This village belongs to whoever your lord is, not you." She huffed, now sitting down in a chair before him.
He sighed, grabbing another chair from the table and pulling it in front of the girl. He sat down, looking the girl in the eyes. "We don't exactly have a lord."
The girl's eyes widened before letting out a loud laugh, resulting in small giggles before she stopped. "Sorry, i really don't mean to laugh, but that's kind of funny. How is this village still running? Where is your lord? How are there people here? Why are you still here?" She questioned.
"Because. This is my home. I protect the people in my home, because they're my family.." He started with a small smile, but that soon faded, "Our lord... our lord died during an accident.."
"Oh. Well I'm sure that sucks doesn't it." The girl said, not showing any sympathy at all.
"Yes, it does, we loved our lord very much. Our lord was very kind, and helpful." He said, just remembering all the fun and good times with the lord, "Our lord was different then most. Our lord would interact with us, she would help around the village, she built houses for us." The guard shivered, feeling his entire body go cold for a moment.
"Your lord, was helpful? That's quite a shock.. If this lord was so helpful, then how did she die? Sickness? Assassination?" She asked, now curious on what happened.
The guard was quiet. He only looked at the floor.
"Hello? I'm speaking to you." She said, getting closer to the guard, getting very close to his face.
He snapped out of his thoughts, realizing how extremely close she was. His face went red before pushing her back.
She was surprised, she ended up losing her balance and falling to the floor. A thump followed after her fall, causing the young knight to spring awake. He sat up quickly, opening his eyes as he saw she was on the floor. His eyes then followed to look at the guard in the room. His instinct took over and he grabbed one of the daggers from his boot and threw it at the guard.
The dagger pierced through the guard's arm, causing him to groan loudly in pain. The girl didn't realize what had happened until it was too late. She looked to the young guard, who was about to pull out his sword and attack the knight. She didn't have time to think, so she just pushed herself down more as she tripped the guard, causing him to stumble before falling.
"Do not touch him." She growled, seeing the guard's arm bleeding.
The young knight looked down at the guard and just glared at him, "What is he doing in here??" He asked.
"It's not important to you, what's important is that you don't harm him anymore." She told him, sitting up now to help the guard up.
The guard hesitantly took her hand, now standing before the two. He removed the dagger from his arm and tossed it on the floor.
"My apologies for the young one." She said as she grabbed some bandages and wrapped the guard's wound.
"Sure." He said, his tone now cold. She took offense to this, tightening the bandages way too tight.
"Out." She said as she pulled the guard to the door and opened it. She yanked him out the door.
"You can't make me leave-." He began but was cut off by the door slamming in his face. He was about to re-enter but another guard approached him.
"Sir Etai!" The guard said.
"Yes David?" Etai questioned.
"Have you seen the girl? From earlier?" David asked.
Etai sighed, glancing at the door before looking back at David, "I have not."
