1.4. New Companion [Rewritten]

You can skip the next 2 paras of A/N. I am not erasing them in memory of the me back then. You can say that this is because I am mourning for the me from back then. Just kidding. Warning: this chapter has mentions of trauma, violence and su*c*de.

*Sorry that I didn't update for 4 days. It was the weekend so I went out, and also watched some anime films. I recommend you guys watch them- Hotarubi no Mori E (Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light), Kimi no Na was (Your Name) and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

My vacations are going on right now, that is why I had posted 2 chapters within one day, twice. Anyways, let's get back to our chapter------*

Chapter 4: New Companion

*Moriko's pov*

It has almost been a year since I joined Team Minato. Sometime after I had joined, Obito, Rin and Kakashi participated in the chūnin exams along with their other classmates. I couldn't because I hadn't completed 8 missions yet. Minato-sensei had taken me to see the round in which they had fight against other examinees. Obito and Rin did pretty well, but Kakashi was simply amazing.

In the end, Kakashi was the only one in his year to pass and became a chūnin, while the others from his year remained genin. I can't help but envy him, but I also can't deny his genius. As for me, I will have to wait for Rin and Obito to be able to particpate in the chunin exams. This is because there's some rule which says that you have to be in a 3-man squad as to be eligible. And looking at the chuunin exam made me realise how far behind I am. I needed more practice and training before particpating in these exams. And so, we decided to do it after a few years, as each of us needed more practice.

I had also started training for the "Gentle Fist Technique" style of martial arts from Hizashi Hyuuga. After I agreed to become a shinobi, I was taken to the Hyuuga Clan's Main Family's House because of a certain blood connection with them. Since my connection was with the Branch Family, the Main Family elders ordered Hizashi-san, who was from the Branch Family, to train me. They gave me a cursed seal, different from the one on the forehead of many Branch Family members, which I would rather not think of now.

Right now, I was standing outside the Hokage's office with the rest of Team Minato, waiting to be called in for our new mission. 'Come in.' said the Third Hokage. He was nearing old age, but still active as ever. He always made a kind smile around me, but I couldn't help but feel wary around him, since he was one of the "elders" who had told Minato-sensei to convince and train me to be a shinobi.

Then the Sandaime spoke, 'So Team Minato, for today I have got a different mission for you. You have to go to the Kuramoto's place near the woods. Their precious creature has gone missing...' he says we have a different mission, and gives us the usual mission where we have to look for another lost pet. Brilliant.

'Now this creature is not your usual dog or cat or any other tame animal raised as pet.' he says while turning to me with a smile. He always seemed to be able to read my mind 'This one is different. It's a dog - no, it's more similar to a wolf, called the "Shi no Oukami" (Wolf of death). This breed is famed for producing good ninken summons, and true to that, this pup is very strong and very capable in self-defense. However, since it is untrained and young, it's much weaker than a full-grown Shi no Oukami. So, your mission, Team Minato, is to find the ninken, and return him to the Kuramoto. Dismissed.' And we dispersed to pack our things and get ready for the mission.

I have seen some of Nekobaa's ninneko in Sora-ku, but I have never seen a ninken before. As I was about to leave through the dango store for our rendezvous, I saw Kenta. I stood there, anger and disgust filling up within me, and glared at him. He felt my glare, as he looked my way which made our eyes meet. This made him flinch and he immdeiately looked away.
