With tears streaming down her face, Natalie had run into her apartment from her hiding place in the hall upstairs and locked the door. Now David resented her and Lexi hated both of them. Natalie knew it would be best to stay away from David and decided to stay downstairs until everything was over.
Natalie sat on her bed and placed her prized guitar in her lap. Music helped her in times like these, hard times that entered her life, unwanted and unwelcome. She began to strum the strings and sang a song she'd been writing since she'd first come to live here.
Tears fell from Natalie eyes as the lyrics she sung began to sting at her heart. All she had was love for David and now she felt in her heart he wanted it to be over with. The love she thought he held for her could never compare to the love he gave to his wife.
She was not the one whom he had said 'I do' too and knew she was not the one whom he held unconditional love for. She was a lay, that's all. 'How could you have so stupid?' Natalie's heart said to her. She knew David could never love her like that.
Natalie knew they should not have made love but she couldn't resist herself. David was older than her so she felt that security but they shouldn't have done it. She should have said no and just gone home but it all happened so fast.
She stared at her reflection in the mirror, which was housed in the corner of the room. Her long hair fell over her shoulder as she flipped her head down to look at her guitar. Natalie played with such passion, a passion that David had awakened inside her.
She jumped at the knock on her door. "Come in."
David stuck his head in. "Hey Nat...mind if we talk?" His voice was strange, disconnected from showing any emotion.
"Sure," she replied, placing the guitar back in its case. She watched David lock the door behind him and her heart beat painfully in her chest. "You really shouldn't be down here, D."
From the look on his face, it was obvious any intimate connection would end up being severed. David sat on the bed beside her and fiddled with the papers in his hands. "I'll make it as quick as possible," he started, "I know you heard the conversation between Lexi and I. So you already know I have to terminate your employment..."
He handed her a termination notice and an attached check for $250,000 almost robotically. Natalie's heart sank as she stared at David's signature. "I...I couldn't just get my own place? Dave, I gave up my life to move up here and work for you. You can't...you can't just drop me without warning!"
"I can do whatever the fuck I want," David replied coldly.
"How long do I have?" Natalie's emotions betrayed her in the form of a quivering lip.
David smirked and his eyes roamed over her hungrily. "I'm sure we could work something out. You can stay for a couple days if I can fuck you one last time."
Natalie snorted and looked at him with disgust. "You were just caught cheating by your wife and yet you still wanna fuck me?! That's fucked up, David. Giving me a day is the least you can do without expecting anything in return."
David stood and started removing his belt, growling deeply and repeated words he'd once said to Delansa, "Remember, little girl. My house, my rules. I say when you go and what you do, so you better lay back on that bed and open those fucking legs for me one more time."
He slapped his hand over her mouth tightly to silence her cries, pushing her back roughly into the bed and pinning her under his body. His mind flashed memories of Delansa chained up naked, a shiny knife scraping along the delicate skin of her neck.
