David's eyes opened slightly the next morning with a splitting headache, light piercing his reluctant eyelids. Lexi's voice was still running through his veins like icy water, comments on Natalie's dress and him singing to her the night before.

He could still smell Nat's perfume mixed with Lexi's intoxicating juices and his senses were on overload. His hand reached out for his wife but only found a folded piece of paper.

You know what to do next. I'll be waiting xoxo

David groaned and rolled away from the window, staring at Lexi's handwriting. She was counting on him. So was Raiden. He grabbed his phone from the nightstand and composed a short message to Natalie.

"Had a wonderful time last night. I'll be over around lunchtime...with pizza ;-)"

"Pizza sounds yummy :) Head's killing me. Raiden ran in this morning and jumped on me." She sent a selfie of her and Raiden snuggled up.

"Save some snuggles for me!! Lol! Need to shower and make myself scarce before Lexi comes by to get some of her things."

"She moving out?"

"Staying with family for a while in Philly."

"Bummer..."

"Total bummer ;-) So I'll see you two later?"

"We'll be here x"

David pulled up to the small home two hours later, his hands full of pizza, wings, soda, and cheesy bread just for Raiden. He laughed at the sight of Nat and Raiden building a snowman.

"Daddy, come on!" Raiden shouted out in glee.

"Let me get the food inside, kiddo," he shouted back over the whistling wind. Once free of his food burden, David ran out and grabbed Raiden around the waist, swinging the little boy and tossing him into a nearby snowbank.

Raiden's arms and legs waved in the air, his giggling carried on the winter air. "Mama! Mama! Help me, Mama!"

Natalie rushed over and grabbed one of her son's mittens, pulling him from the white embankment. Raiden picked up as much snow as he could in his small hands and ran towards David, slipping on ice and falling on his butt. The handful of snow ended up in the child's face.

His parents laughed as he sputtered the snowflakes and furrowed his brows. "Get Mama!" Raiden and David glanced over at Natalie who shook her head. "Get her, Daddy!"

David scooped her up in his arms and, laughing, plunged himself and Natalie into the snow. Raiden cheered and Natalie wiggled under David.

Off in the distance, the whir of the camera shutter went unnoticed from the photos that were being taken from behind darkly tinted windows of a nondescript van parked across the road.

The camera and van followed them over the next few weeks as the reunited couple took their son ice skating and to see Christmas light displays. This went unnoticed by both of them, even as Natalie watched David reading the displays to Raiden at the aquarium and took pictures of their little boy.

Even when Raiden wasn't present, the van and second camera staked out the house while the first followed the couple to dinner and movies, bowling and music clubs. The figure always blended in perfectly, snapping pictures of them laughing, kissing and dancing.

Three weeks and Natalie let David closer physically and emotionally, allowing him to pull her into his body to snuggle or kiss her sweetly. Most nights he'd kiss them both goodnight and go home. On rare occasions, he'd sleep on the sofa out of respect for Natalie and have breakfast ready the next morning.
