Prologue

"Come on, we have to go. It's getting to late..." Beth says pulling her friend Mary who was walking to slow for her liking. "Will you chill Beth, we still have light." Mary says as she looks at her scared friend, her worried friend. "And besides, it's not like Wendigos won't attack us in the light." Mary says making Beth shiver, "We should of had your brother come with us... I mean his a Chosen one... He could of protected us." Beth says taking a turn. Mary huffed, "Protect huh? What is he going to do? Electric the monsters? Like that would stop them." Mary laughed as she keeps walking a head of Beth. "It would of less slow them down..." Beth says behind her. Mary rolls her eyes, "Whatever, and like I said before, the Wendigos won't attack in..." she stops when she saw she was in a dark alley now. "Light..." She whispers as she heard a snap behind her making her turn to see that Beth was gone.

"Beth? Beth where are you?" Mary ask taking a step forward. "Marrryyy." Mary heard Beth yell making Mary start to run to the voice. "I'm coming Beth!" Mary yells as she heard another scream making her turn down another alleyway only to stop when she saw someone in the shadows. "Beth... Is that you?" Mary ask as she steps up. The shadow raised it's hand. "Come on Mary, I found a way out." The shadow says in Beth's voice making Mary sigh with relief, "God Beth you scared the shit out of me." Mary laughed as she starts to walk to her friend  "I thought for a second you were a Wen..." She touches Beth's shoulder making her turn to see a woman with gray, dead like skin and dark blue eyes. Mary pulled back as the woman fully turned.

"Oh you were right Mary." The woman says using Beth's voice as she smiles showing sharp teeth. Mary could feel her heart start to beat faster as her eyes travel behind the woman to see Beth's lifeless body laying behind her. Mary felt a scream start to form before she felt her eyes widen as she felt something sharp go across her throat. She felt like she was drowning as she falls to her knees before she falls to her stomach as blood starts to fall form the cut on her throat. The Wendigo woman went down and looked at meal as the life drained form the Mary's eyes. The Wendigo smiles, "Stupid human."

About eleven years ago, the apocalypse happened. At less, that's what we thought. People were starting to get sick, they were starting to... Change. Some were lucky, the Chosen ones, just became almost superhuman. Everyone had different powers no one was the same. Then animals started to changed too, we call them Familiars, animals that can turn human and back to animals again, again We thought that was the worse of the apocalypse, we thought it won't get worse, but we were wrong. It only got much, much worse.

The reason this is the apocalypse is because of the unlucky ones, the Wendigos. Wendiogs are dead but not dead at the same time. They have gray skin with dark blue eyes and sharp pointed teeth. They still acted human, expect they couldn't come out during daylight, only at night. Wendigos are fast, fast enough that you wouldn't even see them until it was to late. And they are strong, god they are so strong. But the worse is... They can imitate anyone, that's how they get their victims... That's how they kill.

When the Wendigos started to get more active, started to kill more human, the Chosen ones decided it was their job to protect what was left of humanity. Even the Familiars decided to help, they became protecters to a Chosen one it was almost like having a pet but without Wendiogs, life could go back to normal... At less a little.

We don't know why some were became the Chosen ones, or why some stayed human or worse, became a Wendigo but it was now how life was, to protect humans and Familiars who couldn't. But for me... it wasn't to protect anyone, is was just to stop one... to kill just one Wendigo.

For my family's sake.
