Chapter 5
"Okay, chicken and green beans for dinner then," announced Farrah as she closed the motel door behind herself.
"Really?" Sam said in surprise.
"That's okay, right?"
"Yeah, no, that's perfect. Thanks."
She smiled. "No problem."
As she was cooking, he said, "I couldn't get a hold of Cas, but I'll try again later."
"No need. He came when he found out I was your daughter. I told him what was going on, and he asked about Mom, then said he'd look into it and left."
"How long ago was that?"
Just as she opened her mouth to respond, Cas showed up. "I'm here."
Dean sat up on his bed. "Alright. What'd you get?"
"Emily Novaro had been possessed by an angel most of her life. That is why I recognized her name. I knew the angel inside her. When she was young, she was very near death and allowed the angel to use her, but the angel didn't leave until after Farrah was born."
"What does that mean?" Dean asked.
"It means that Farrah's mother is not Emily, but the angel. I don't have a name yet."
"So, she's half-Winchester and half-angel?" Sam asked.
"Yes. Farrah, the power that you asked me about is rare. It is reserved for the most powerful angels."
"What is it?" she asked.
"You can see the location of any object in heaven, on earth, in hell, and in purgatory, just by thinking about it. With this, you can also travel to any place you can think of."
"As in, I could go to heaven and back just by clicking my fingers?" she asked.
"In theory, yes. But you are inexperienced and could end up anywhere."
She nodded. "Okay. Isn't that normal though? You disappear and reappear in seconds."
"I cannot travel to hell or purgatory, not easily. It takes many angels together to get there."
"Oh."
"Being of the Winchester bloodline, you will be even more powerful than a normal hybrid."
"There's a norm for hybrids?" Dean said.
"Yes. I am curious to see how this develops. Call me with updates."
"If you'll answer," scoffed Dean.
"I will."
Farrah piped up, "Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"I don't eat."
Cas left then, and Farrah turned to the chicken on the stove. "Farrah," started Sam, but she put her earbuds in. He nodded. "Okay."
"Girl's got a lot to think about, Sammy," Dean said. "Let her worry about her stuff. How're we gonna find this trickster?"
While Sam and Dean talked, Farrah was deep in thought. She was continuing to process the information while they ate, and it was quiet. Until she sighed heavily, that is. This made Sam's ears perk up. "Farrah?"
"I'm okay," she smiled weakly.
The brothers exchanged a glance. Dean said, "Farrah, tomorrow Sam and I were planning on going to the most recent crime scene, but we need someone to talk to the family too. You up for that?"
She smiled at her uncle. "Sure thing. What do you know about the trickster?"
They were talking until Farrah went to bed. After she was asleep, Sam looked over at Dean.
"What's up with you?"
"What?"
"Four hours ago you were telling me to keep Farrah here, and now you're sending her off to do an interrogation."
Dean shrugged. "I think she's proved that she can help."
Sam smirked. "So, you're saying you finally accept that you have a niece and I don't?"
Dean pointed his finger at Sam. "I never said that."
Sam laughed.
That night, as they were laying in bed sleeping, a loud thud woke the two boys. "What was that?" Sam asked, a knife in his hand.
"Does it look like I know?" Dean snarked, grabbing his gun.
Farrah mumbled something in her sleep and rolled over. As she did, a shirt flew across the room. There was a troubled look on her face. Then she gave a loud sob and every door and window flew open.
"Farrah!" exclaimed Sam, rushing over to her. When he woke her up, everything returned to its rightful place. She gasped.
"What happened? Sam?"
Like a child afraid of the dark, Farrah clung to Sam, latching her hands behind his neck. He comforted her, while Dean stood back and waited for an explanation.
"Were you having a nightmare?" Sam asked.
"Yeah. Sorry if I woke you up."
"The flying objects did that," snapped Dean.
"Flying what?"
"While you were asleep," Sam explained, "it seemed like you were moving things with your mind."
Her eyes widened. "No way. I couldn't have..."
"Cas said you were pretty powerful."
Dean smiled. "Let's see just how powerful you are. Even demons can't toss Sammy here around."
"I-" she cut herself off. "I can't though."
"Just try."
"How?"
They shrugged and she took a deep breath. "Let's just go to sleep. Tomorrow morning we'll call Bobby or Castiel or someone to help. I'll talk to them on my way to the family's house, and I'll tell you guys what I find out. Okay?"
They agreed and fell back asleep easily.
