where love belongs

in science they teach you that the heart beat sounds like "lub dub, lub dub, lub dub." they say that love doesn't actually have anything to do with the heart; it's all in the mind. whoever came up with that idea surely has never been in love, for they would have been instantly made aware of the feeling i associate with seeing you. the gentle and steady "lub dub" that i generally live unaware of is suddenly brought to light as it stops for a second.
a second.
it only happens for a second, but, every time i see you, it's like my heart is stopping to take a breath. it beats its normal beat until you come into view. then, it stops, takes a breath, and comes back beating stronger and faster than ever before. clearly, science has never felt love, for they would've felt the love in their hearts and known where love belongs.
