Prologue

1:32am Wednesday, 19th of March, 2013 - Location: Sato Estate, Orilon

"Quick, we need to leave!" the young woman called to the next room. "There's no time!"

A teenage girl in a shadowy dress appeared in the doorway. "Yes, Akemi. Are you packed?" she drawled.

"Yes! Come on then, Ellie. We don't have that much time left." Akemi said sternly. As she walked out the door to the taxi, her luggage dragging behind her, she heard Ellie whisper softly.

"Wait."

Akemi turned around to Ellie's worried expression.

"Are you... worried about her?" Akemi gently asks, holding Ellie's hand.

"Yes. All we're leaving is a note telling her where we will be by tomorrow!" Ellie cried. She couldn't believe that she was about to leave her best friend behind. "When she gets there, we'll have already left! It's not fair!"

Akemi sighed and looked at the solitary note that they would leave behind for her to find, before hugging Ellie.

"You know full well that she is not able to accompany us. It would be too dangerous and just think about it, what if something happens!"

Ellie sniffed. "I know, Akemi. But knowing her, she might try to find us. Can we at least leave a sword behind to defend herself if she does?"

"...All right."

Ellie placed her spare sword next to the note, hoping that she won't need to use it.

"Okay, let's leave," she sighed to Akemi.

As they walked out of the front door and into the taxi, Akemi looked back at the second floor window on the left, seeing a teenage girl, her niece, sleeping on her bed.

"Goodbye," Akemi said as the taxi drove down the road.

Author's Notes

Hello! I'm Earl, and what you just read was the rather short prologue to my first story, Earthrise.

I'm planning to have at least 40 parts plus for this story - this one's quite a long one.

In this part, you have met three characters - Akemi Sato, Ellie Okita and our protagonist - the currently sleeping Maia Sato-Ramella.

For your knowledge, I will now present to you the basic character profile for Akemi!

Relationship to Maia: Maternal Aunt

Currently single, but always on the lookout for a cute guy, she is a sucker for rom-coms and loves eating donuts. When she's not leaving with Maia's best friend at one in the morning, she is quite cheerful and likes dogs.

Likes: Emotional therapy, cinnamon donuts, dogs, Ellie.

Dislikes: Leaving at 1 in the morning, being single.
