Chapter 8

Clay is in his grumpy mood and he locked himself on his room. Naiinis siya dahil hanggang ngayon hindi parin niya kayang aminin kay Glaze ang nararamdaman niya.

"Fucking coward! You're always a fucking coward!" He said while punching his wall. "Damn it!" Ika niya saka siya nahiga sa kanyang kama.

He remembered the first time he met her. She was crying because of their rude classmate na pumunit sa drawing niya. He didn't know why but he found her cute with her reddish nose and swollen eyes.

Clay sighed. Kailan ba siya nagsimulang magka-gusto sa dalaga? He always find himself looking at her. His eyes unconsciously following every move that she make. The way she smiles, how she brushed her hair away from her face, and how her expression change. All of those simple things make his heart flutter.

Maybe Clay fell for her from the moment he met her.

"I hope she get better soon." Clay mumbled as he started to dozed off.

Clay was walking on the shore with Glaze. The setting sun made a beautiful reflection of light on the water. It was a wonderful scenery to enjoy. It feels like a dream to him. Clay took a deep breath and called her.

"Glaze, I have something to tell you." He nervously said to her. Glazed stopped walking then she turned to face him.

"Mmm, what is it Clay?" She said while smiling.

Clay look into her eyes. He was determined to tell her how he feels. "It's now or never Clay." He told to himself then he tightly clenched his fist to strengthen himself.

"I love you Glaze. I've been in love with you for a long time. I don't know when did it start, but I know that I felt something towards you from the moment I met you." Wika ni Clay at pakiramdam niya ay tila mauubos ang lakas niya. "I always want to see you smile, I want to take care of you and  make you happy. So please, will you go out with me?"

Glaze stood in shock. Her round eyes widened in surprised but suddenly her lips curved and form a shy smile. She averted her gaze from him trying to hide her blushing face. Napakalas ang tibok ng puso ni Clay habang taimtim na nananalangin na sana hindi siya nito tanggihan.

Glaze suddenly look at him. "Clay, I, I—"

Clay can't hear what she said and to his surprised Glaze is starting to fade in front of him.

"No, no. Glaze, where are you going? Please, don't go! Glaze! Glaze, don't leave me!"

"Noooo!" Malakas na sigaw ni Clay dahilan upang magising siya. Habol sng hiniga niya habang nakatingin sa kisame ng kanyang kuwarto.

He wiped his invisible sweat from his forehead.

"Fuck, thankfully it's just a dream." He thought. That scared the shit out of him. That dream feels so real, it feels like he lost her forever and that feeling is what he loathes the most. Hindi siya makakapayag na magkatotoo ang napanaginipan niya. Never!

Clay reached for his phone and dialled Glaze's number. Her phone rings for a couple of times bago nito sinagot.

"What?" She answered with a groggy voice. He felt so relieved after hearing her.

"I just want to hear your voice. Good morning baby." He said while smiling.

"Aarghh. Ang aga-aga Clay!" Inis na sambit nito saka siya pinatayan ng tawag.

Clay laughed and sent her a text asking if she's feeling alright now but he didn't receive any message after that.

"Natulog ulit siguro." Ika niya saka tinignan ang orasan. "Yeah, maaga pa nga." Sambit niya ng makitang alas-sais pa lang ng umaga. Clay decided to get up from bed and did a little exercise before he went downstairs.

Nakita niya ang kanyang ate na nanonood ng TV habang umiinom ng kape.

"Morning sis." Bati niya rito.

"Mornin. Ang aga mo atang nagising." Tanong nito sakanya.

"Yeah. I had a nightmare and tried to go back to sleep pero hindi na ako makatulog." Sagot niya rito. "When will your vacation ends?" Tanong niya. Her sister Erica runs a small boutique in Canada and she left it with her best friend who happens to be her business partner as well para lang sumama at magbakasyon dito sa Pilipinas.

"Till the end of the month." Nakangising ika nito.

"That's a long vacation." Sagot niya sa kanyang kapatid bago dumiretso sa kusina. He saw her mom cooking in the kitchen.

"Morning mom. What are you cookin'?" Tanong niya saka siya kumuha ng orange juice sa loob ng ref.

"Chicken soup. Some bacon and eggs." Sagot naman nito. "Honey, can you get me some parsley?"

Clay grab the parsley inside the ref and gave it to his mother.

"Thanks."

He took some toasted bread and spread a jam on it saka niya ito dinala sa sala upang doon kumain at manood kasama ang ate niya. Inilapag niya ang dalang juice at tinapay sa mesa saka umupo sa sahig. Sumandal siya sa sofa na kinauupuan ng ate niya bago siya kumuha ng tinapay.

"Can you pass me some toast?" His sister said and Clay give the plate to her.

"How's Glaze?" Erica asked. "I haven't seen her since we moved to America. I never get the chance to meet her these days. You should invite her here."

"She became more beautiful than before." Clay answered at hindi niya mapigilan ang hindi ngumiti ng biglang lumitaw sa kanyang isipan ang nakangiting mukha nito. "Yeah, I will. As soon as she feel better."

"Why is she sick?"

"Yep. She caught a cold and fever. I visited her yesterday and I'm plan to see her again after class."

"Siya parin ba?" She asked him. Clay took a gulped from his glass and answered.

"Yes. I really love her ate. My feelings for her never changed a bit. That's why I can never forgive Glen for taking her from me and hurting her because of that stupid rivalry." Matiim na sagot niya.

Hinding-hindi niya malilimutan ang araw na iyon ng malaman niyang liniligawan ni Glen si Glaze. Tinikis niya ang kanyang nararamdamn ng makita niyang gusto ni Glaze ang kanyang kapatid. Nagpaubaya siya ng makitang masaya ang dalaga sa piling ni Glen kahit na tila pinipiga ang kanyang puso sa tuwing magkasama ang dalawa.

But then Glen cheated with Stacey. Galit na galit siya ng makitang umiiyak si Glaze lalo na ng malaman niya ang nangyari. Clay never like to pick a fight but when he saw his brother that day hindi niya napigilan ang sarili at sinuntok niya ito sa mukha.

Glen gave him a smug look and told him that Glaze is boring and can't fulfill his needs. He told him that he just courted Glaze because he knew that he has feelings for her and he wanted to take her from him. That's when Clay lose all his patience and beat Glen.

A rift formed between them after that day and until now the rift was still there.
