"This is the start of how it all ever ends
They used to shout my name, now they whisper it
I'm speeding up and this is the
Red, orange, yellow flicker beat sparking up my heart
We rip the start, the colors disappear."

I sat on the porch of the new house as I watched my younger twin be tortured into pictures that I was previously forced into earlier that morning. Juice poured lightly on my face as I bit into the apple I was holding.

"It's the twins' big day!" My dad took a picture after saying that, mom held Cady in a parted hug as they posed for the first day of school photo. I cringed at how emotional they were getting but couldn't blame them.

"I can't believe my babies are off to public school!" Mom held Cady tightly and smiled tearfully at me.

It's weird how you go from being homeschooled to public school. Some people have the stereotype that homeschooled people are weird. Hopefully, Cady and I aren't classified as the weird homeschooled twins.

"Mom we gotta go or we'll be late," I announced to my parents as they looked through the pictures taken. Cady nodded in agreement as she took her bag that sat next to mine against my leg.

"You're right, let's go. Our kids are off to public school." I smiled at walked to the car, opening the door I let Cady in first then me. Once buckled in, our parents looked back at us.

"Ready?" Simultaneously, Cady and I looked at each other, nervous for each other. Nodding at the same time, we drove to school.

I watched as the houses passed us and all looked the same, putting in my earbuds, light cello music played. Still looking out the window I felt a hand grasp mine, I laced Cady's hand with my own as we both anxiously waited for the school building to appear. Sadly, it showed too soon.

"Good luck, kids." I smiled weakly at my parents and slid out the door, helping my sister out afterward. Walking to the building, some people stared as we passed. Mostly girls. I rolled my eyes at their whispering.

After getting our schedules, Cady and I stared at the madness of public school. Crowds of people surrounded us and passed us in untimely areas and the loudness of it all gave me an immediate headache. I pulled Cady closer to my side.

Cady and I simultaneously switched each other's schedules and surveyed them to see if we had any classes together. We had math together and another one. Smiling, both twins handed each other their schedules. Cady slowly and carefully removed an earbud from her brother's ear to talk with him.
