"You keep attacking me indirectly. I know I'm on the wrong side, but honestly, Ice, are you going overboard?" Solar adverted his gaze, an uncomfortable smile on his lips.
Ice kept staring at Solar until Thorn had to rescue his lover, "Uhm, he made a point. Life has ups and downs, and no one could do without some failures right?"
Ice sneered, "I didn't ask him to win."
"... Alright, but you have to admit there was a possibility Blaze being in danger too."
Blaze - being (the dumbest) human again - squeaked, "Hey, don't drag me in!"
Ice raised an eyebrow, "What? You think my lover is that weak and pathetic?"
Thorn practically gaped at him, feeling a bit insulted. He dismissed it quickly, knowing Ice meant no harm. Never would he.
Ice glanced at Blaze, who jerked, before going on, "Actually, even if he is, I'll only have to knock some sense into him later. That as long as he manages to stay alive, he will be able to become stronger. That it will be fine. Everything will be alright." Ice winked at Cyclone and Thorn.
"The fact that Solar was an inch away from death sucks, but not the reason why I'm beyond mad at him. Like I said, he was supposed to be one of the strongest, yet the only one to fail miserably. And when I said fail, I didn't mean his power-absorbed accident because Retak'ka was one hell of a kind, Solar alone could never take him down." Ice mumbled, "His failure was unable to survive properly."
Not only survive, but properly. Ice did not believe surviving in a coma counted.
"You were too engrossed in the fight, arrogant enough to face that monster alone, and stupid enough to think that as the strongest Boboiboy, you should fight and finish Retak'ka so that we wouldn't be involved and in danger." Ice closed his eyes irritably, "Look where it got you."
When Topaz gems reopened, Ice saw Solar's jaw dropped to the floor.
"Well?"
"H... How..." He questioned weakly, "... did you know?"
"With approriate analysis, I could."
His answer did not answer anything...
But perhaps, it explained why Ice was practically ice and water.
"You are strong, like the sun, you shine so bright that it's difficult to see anything but your family and possible dangers. And just like the sun, with incredible power, you will annihilate those dangers in a blink." Ice's shoulders dropped, "But you are human, Solar."
Fighting, protecting, calculating, since you were also the knowledge light. The ace, the last card to defeat our opponents.
Trying to do so much will destroy you, Solar.
"What do you think we were there for?"
Aren't us your family, your friends, your comrades?
The unspoken question hung in the air, silenced everyone.
Ice's bangs covered his eyes.
He was disappointed.
"But in the end Solar is alive, isn't he?"
Unexpected sentence broke the silence, which happened to be Earthquake's. He smiled softly.
"In the end, it's the only thing matters, don't you think?"
Ice still lowered his head, no response. Earthquake gently pushed Solar's back, causing him to slightly stumbled, and ended up in front of Ice. The blue-eyed refused to look up.
Solar shifted uneasily, "Uhm... Ice..."
No response.
"Ice, look, I..." He tried to think of some thing to say. Anything.
He gave up.
"I'm sorry..."
Solar looked around, met expectant eyes, swallowed an invisible lump in his throat, "Everyone..."
"... I'm sorry."
I made you guys worried so much, didn't I?
But I hadn't apologized.
"Forgive me."
For not trying harder to make it out alive, properly.
For facing Retak'ka alone, without asking for help.
For not counting on you guys like one would count on his comrades, his friends, his family.
He turned back to Ice, tried to meet beautiful Topaz eyes, sought a faintest glimpse of forgiveness.
That was when Ice spoke.
"I..."
Solar unconciously hold his breath.
"I felt like dying when your power was drawn away..."
The others exchanged gaze, mildly shocked. That was not something they expected Ice, of all people, to say.
"I was unable to breathe, my vision blurred, and a feeling of nausea in my stomach. In short, dying." Ice mumbled, "And to imagine, no, recognize, that your situation was definitely worse..."
"It pained me to see you like that."
Silence. Absolute silence.
Ice finally looked up, face void of emotions, eyes crystal clear.
"But you are alive."
He gazed into those Opal orbs, breathtaking Sunset Fire Opal, filled with so much life.
"Of course you could manage a better situation, you idiot. Still, in the end you desperately tried to fight, to live."
"To stay with us."
And it's the only thing matters.
"Thank you."
I forgive you.
Ice sincerely smiled.
Solar looked surprised, and for a moment unsure what to do, then he smiled along.
"You're welcome."
Thorn hit Solar's head, hard.
"What the...?! What are you doing?!"
Thorn solemnly said, "You, are the most insensitive wart ever to walk the earth, Solar."
"What?! Now I'm reduced to something lifeless?!"
"In the most indecent way, yes."
Ice murmured, "Serve you right." Earthquake helped Solar stand up, suppressing a smile while haft-heartedly scolding, "To be honest, you deserved to be beaten to a pulp after all the worry you put us through. Along with Thunderstorm, you should be the heart of an attack, not giving us heart attacks."
The other five Boboiboys burst out laughing immediately. Smart choice of words, as expected. Solar pouted, "Come on, now I'm all sunshine and rainbows right? Behold, my crown of light is back!"
Thorn beat Solar senseless.
