"Happy birthday Nova!" Was the first thing I heard when I jumped off the last step of my stairs.
"Thanks mom." I said before giving my mom a hug and a kiss on the cheek. I looked around for my dad and brother but only to find them not there.
"They went to the store real quick they'll be back in a few minutes." My mom said reading my mind before setting a plate of eggs, potatoes, and bacon in front of me as I sit down on the table.
"Thanks Mrs. Grey." Andy said from across from me as my mom sets a plate of food in front of her.
"So.... what are you doing for your birthday honey?" My mom asked from the kitchen as she washed the dishes.
"Uh nothing I th-" I was suddenly cut off by Andy who had a grin on her face.
"We're actually going to buy ourselves a dress for the dance on Friday." Andy said while avoiding my murderous glare.
"No we're actually-" I was once again cut off by the front door slamming open and my very excited seven year old baby brother Thomas running up to me with a small bag.
"Look what I got you for your birthday sis." He said putting the bag on my lap while jumping up and down excitedly causing his dark brown curls to bounce.
I opened the bag to see a glossy black circular case with the word Pandora in gold cursive letters. I snapped it open and a smile took over my face as soon as I saw what it was.

It was the golden princess ring I showed my dad two years ago.
I took the ring out of the cushioned case and slipped it onto my right index finger still admiring it.
"Do you like it?" My dads rough voice calls out as he enters the house with three bags of groceries.
I stood up from my chair and walked over to my dad as he set the groceries on the table. I wrapped my arms around his waist and he immediately responded to the hug and wrapped his muscular arms around my shoulders and I instantly relax into to the familiar warmth of his hugs.
"Thanks dad I love it." I said smiling into his chest before craning my head to look up at him. He looked down at me with a smile and pecked my forehead. I pulled back from the hug and looked over to Thomas who had a pout on his face. I walked up to him before crouching down to his level and pulling him into my chest and he responded by wrapping his little arms around me neck.
"Thanks buddy." I said as he stuck his head in the crook of my neck and caused an involuntary giggle to bubble from my chest as his curls ticked my shoulder area.
"Your welcome. I helped dad pick it out." He said as he pulled back from the hug and went to mom with outstretched arms and she gladly picked him and sit him on her hip before placing a kiss on his cheek.
"Awww you guys are the cutest family ever." Andy said as she watched all of us in awe and we burst out in a fit of laughter.
"Oh sweetheart so when will you and Andy go shopping?" My mom said as the laughter stopped. And I suddenly remembered that we weren't going shopping.
"Oh mom we're actually j-" I was cut off again by Andy that I so badly wanted to strangle.
"We're actually going right now we just need to get dressed and we'll be out of your hair in no time." Andy said before standing up from the table and putting her plate in the sink before grabbing me by the arm and dragging me upstairs before I could say anything.
"What the hell was that you know I'm not going to that dance." I said angrily to her once she closes the door.
"I know but I just want to be able to spend time with you one night and I won't ask you for anything else please Nova and plus you just turned seventeen, enjoy life for one night and you can go back to your nerdy self." She all but begs before widening her chestnut eyes and jutting out her bottom lip into a pout. Maybe just one night and that's it and maybe they have macaroons and chocolate chip cookies there.
I finally sighed in defeat before nodding my head and she broke out into a huge smile and start squealing and saying thank you over and over again while I went into closet and picked out black yoga pants and an oversized grey hoodie, then grabbing socks and slipping on my black converse when I finished putting my socks on before tying my midnight black hair into a messy bun which made some strands of my hair fall out and then grabbing deodorant and my watermelon perfume and applied both on and not before grabbing my phone from the shelf and slipping it in to the hoodies pocket along with my ear buds.
I walked out of the closet to see Andy with a huge smile still on her face. She was currently wearing ripped jean shorts with a purple V neck shirt and brown sandals. Her head snapped my way and she grabbed my wrist dragging me down stairs and I didn't even have time to say bye before she stormed out of the house with me and unlocked her car before sitting in the drivers seat and immediately started the engine and as soon as I stepped in the car she sped off.
"Can you like chill this isn't Fast and Furious." I said while holding onto the seat for dear life as she pushed her foot down on the gas pedal and swerved around cars.
After at least eighteen minutes of her crazy driving we pulling up in Spring Palm mall and finally slowed down in the parking lot and parked in handicap.
"Ummmm this is handicap you know that right?" I asked her confused but all she did was smirk and put the blue handicap sign on the rear view mirror and stepped out of the car and I soon followed her feeling slightly guilty.
Once we stepped inside the big mall the cool air whipped in my face but I didn't get time to look around as Andy once again dragged me as she ran past multiple stores which caught us a lot of stares before coming to a halt and I almost face planted into the floor if she hadn't rushed me in the store which now that I realized is a dress store. She suddenly pushes me and I yelped in surprise before landing on a cushioned seat.
"Stay there while I find your dress ok?" She asks not looking at me while scanning trough dresses.
What felt like hours as I sat here playing with my ring which I find out is a good distraction before she comes walking back with two bags in hand. I try taking a peek inside the bag but she snatches her arm back.
"Hey I want to see what you got me." I said annoyed but all she did was smirk and walk out the store.
