VALSE POV:

Its been 3 days since the hurricane hit and the storm finally passed last night. In those three days we all worked hard to think of a plans to convince Jayla and Janice mother. So far we had 6 plans and the more the plans were the more ridiculous they got.

I sat down in the living room with a towel over my head. Jayla came down stairs with a big smile and her phone in her hand. "I'm never taking hot water for granted again."

Janice nodded her head. "You ain't lying colds showers are not it. And showering in the dark or a low lit room is terrifying."

The power was finally back on and everyone was taking advantage of it. "Thank god we had a grill though or we would have been hungry for them past few days." Jayla sat down next to me. The smell of raspberries and lemon filled my nose.

I looked over at her and she looked at me confused. "What?"

"You smell different. You usually smell like Vanilla but also this raspberry smell that I can't get out my nose for some reason but now its like lemon and raspberries." She laughed a little. "I truly don't know what vanilla and raspberry smell you are talking about but I did use my lemon scented body wash today."

That was weird. Maybe I was smelling something else.

Everyone was dressed and getting prepared for this talk with Jayla and Janice mother. She texted Janice that she was going to be here in 20 minutes but that was 20 minutes ago.

"Okay everyone stick to the script we practice this for this moment right here." Janice stood up. The front door opened and their mother walked in. "I'm home!"

She had a rain jacket on with two bags in her hands.

Once she closed the door she finally noticed us. She was kinda shocked to see us. "Oh uh hello." She smile.

We said our hellos and Jayla walked over to her. "Hey ma how was the flight." She took off her rain jacket then hugged Jayla.
"It was good considering its still raining a little. Are these your friends?"

Jayla nodded her head. "Yes ma and we have someone important to talk to you about."

I stood up taking the towel off my wet hair. "Hello Ms. Turner we are sorry to intrude."

She smiled. "Oh it's nothing. I wouldn't want you guys going home in this rain anyway. I could barely drive in it and call me Joyce."

Janice walked over with flash cards. I looked at them confused. She didn't have them a moment ago.

"Really flash cards." Jayla looked at her.

Janice stuck up her middle finger."This is a big deal I don't want to mess up."

Ms. Joyce looked at her daughters confused. "What's going on?"

"Sit down ma this mess is going to mess with your head up." Jayla lead her to the couch.
