I don't recognize the smile on your face
I don't know of the words you speak
On your tongue
The brown in your eyes
Is unfamiliar and unkind
I don't know you
There was a time I did
A time when we were inseparable
We danced
We sang
We laughed
We baked smiles into rainbows
And made rainbows into clouds
Dark and stormy clouds
Clouds made by another
Who formed its cloud into a twister
Of cruelty and hate
And yanked me right
From your grasp
And you barely hung on
You let that twister
Take me and break me
While you watched and joined
Those memories we had
Smoked and burned to ashes
As you handed him the matches
I watched helplessly as my tears became
My strength and I learned
A life without you
There was a time we were close
And that time
Is no longer
Here to say otherwise
