I woke up and looked over at my phone, 2.34am. Great. What a messed up sleep pattern.

I rolled back over to look at Lyra who was laying next to me, he was still fast asleep. He looked quite adorable surrounded by the many cuddlys that took over my bed. He was out like a light, however I was now wide awake.  I looked round my room, I saw my N64 sat on the floor by my TV. I never got round to setting that up, along with many boxes which were laying round my house filled with odd bits and bobs. Ornaments, consoles, books, comics and CDs, you name it it was probably in a box somewhere.

I quietly crawled out of the bed and headed towards the N64 on the floor. I quietly plugged it all in before grabbing one of my games from the tub beside the TV. Banjo-Kazooie, one of my favourites! It was a classic, and I loved playing it as a kid.

Luckily there was enough room on my bedroom floor between the bed and the tv for a rug and a few cushions. The rug was baby pink and fluffy, made it nice to snuggle up on and the pillows were a mixture of pastel blue, pink and purple. Some had hearts on, some stars, planets, sparkles and some were just fluffy. I made myself comfy in the mound of cushions and grabbed a lilac blanket, before diving into the world of Banjo-Kazooie.

I played for hours, completing level after level, making sure to collect every puzzle piece, every music note and anything else I could get. Then it got to the final level, the quiz about Gruntilda! She was so ugly, no wonder she was a witch! I'd played this game so many times, however the quiz was always tricky for me. I failed the quiz 12 times, and it had taken another 2 hours but I'd still got no closer to winning.

"Princess, its 6am. What are you doing up playing games?" I heard Lyra grogglily say. Oops, I must have woken him when I got annoyed at failing again.

"Ummmm... well I woke at 2.30 so I decided to play a game as I couldn't sleep." I replied, I didnt turn from my screen however.

"That's not good, you should of tried to sleep." He was about to tell me off when he paused. "Are you playing Banjo-Kazooie? Is that an N64?"

"Yep, and yep. Was my favourite game as a kid." I replied, still glued to the screen.

"I've never heard you mention videogames before. Especially games like Banjo-Kazooie."

"Surprised? I love games, I just don't get the chance to play them much anymore. They used to be like an escape to me, an escape from reality. I could be whoever and be wherever, whenever." I replied, I paused the game this time and slightly looked over my shoulder at him. "My nickname used to be Pixel in school. 1) because I love videogames 2) because pixel is kinda like pixie and I'm quite small like a pixie."

Lyra smiled and chuckled at me. Then a smirk grew across his face.

"I guess you're my Pixel Princess then." I smiled, that was a cute name. I liked it!

Lyra climbed out of the bed and came round to where I was sat. I thought he was gonna join me, however that wasn't the case. He leaned over me and turned off the TV and N64, he then scooped me up, from my mountain of pillows, bridal style and carried me over to the bed.

"Well, that doesn't change the fact that you're only little. You should sleep, come on let's cuddle." He said, joining me. I lept into his arms and fell back asleep. I hope I remembered to save my game.

I woke back up a few hours later, Lyra was no longer beside me. A slight pout grew on my face, that was until I heard rustling and clanging downstairs. Jesus, what was he doing down there? Trying to catch an elephant?

I grumbled and slowly persuaded myself to get out of the bed. I chucked on some slippers and a robe. I headed downstairs into the kitchen and looked at Lyra. He was lent over the stove, making something.
