All right... how's it going where ever y'all at?Anywho... today's sketch is of a fruit.
But there's a reason why I drew it.
I was listening to this old lady talk about racism and how, instead of telling adults off about it, we should tell adults to keep their opinions about it, to themselves and allow their children, (the future generations), to decide for themselves. She was also talking about how true racism is silent and not open like in the movies or in books.
And I think she's right.
I'm not agreeing with her because I'm a black man. I'm agreeing because, I consider myself rational and human.
I, personally hate when someone says, "I don't see color or sex." That shit is stupid and annoying. If you don't see color, then you're either colorblind, or totally blind. And if you don't see sex, then you're just dumb. Else, how'd you tell a boy from a girl, or an African from an Asian or European?
It makes no sense.
I prefer someone tell me, "I don't care who you are, why you are or where you're from," instead of saying he doesn't see my color or care about my gender. I'm not invisible. And I'm black. I am proud to be black. I'm male and I am proud to be a bisexual black male. My color, and gender and sexuality, are part of me and I don't care if you like it or not.
I remember some times, when I'm talking to my white friends, and I call them "my nigga" they get scared to say it back or to say the word at all. But they say almost every other cuss word. And that's just dumb. When did the word, become a property of black people? It's white people who gave us the nickname in the first place!
Growing up, me and my friends call each other, "nigga" and there're no hard feelings. So why with you? I should be smart enough to know when I'm being insulted based on my color and when we're just messing about.
People, if we are really going to move past the era of labels and truly evolve, then this stupid idea of racism and all other similar concepts, need to take a hike.
And it starts with you and me and all of us.
I see you...
I see your color...
I see your gender...
I see YOU!
This sketch is titled, "I See You".
