Third Trial

Seeing a object lying there, seeing another object motionless was enough for me, I rushed outside to see one of the most terrifying things one could at this moment of time.

"there you are, sir I have caught this bastard!" yelled an officer.

"do not hold my hand in this manner, I will sue you guys and write a complaint against your police station" said sid.

"do you think I actually care? I just want to see you in the jail now, I wanna see you rot there for atleast a week, you made me run, something I haven't done for ages" said the officer, enjoying his catch.

All the officers had now gathered around sid and held him hostage in their car for atleast few hours.

He couldn't control himself , the sweat twirling on his forehead drove him crazy, they had tied his hands and won't let him open.

"this is the worst I have ever been treated, I will report you" I screamed at them, I dint care what they did anymore.

"come out!" said one of the officers.

They dragged him out and threw him in one of the cells in jail, he whimpered at the sight of the jail, dirt everywhere, roaches at every corner it was his own little hell on earth.

"Please let me go, i havent done anything i promise." Sid begged.

"You little piece of shit, you really think that i will believe you after you ran like a criminal, you know deep down u have done something wrong and thats why u ran, now sit back down and shut up" the officer screamed.

Sid was terrified, he hated every bit of it, why he ran? Why did he feel guilty? Was he actually guilty? Few questions were best when left unanswered.

"I didnt kill her, please let me go, i want to see my wife" sid kept whispering and crying to himself.

"Help me believe you" came a voice from the other side of the bars.

Sid looked up to see a man around his late twenties, dark brown eyes, tall and built to kill, was this man his saviour or was he the hunter, sid couldn't decide yet.

"Hello, i am marcus the head detective here, nice to meet you" said the man as he opened sid's cell and entered in cautiously as if he thought sid would run again but sid neither had the strength nor the guts to sprint out of this hell hole.

"Hello detective, i am-" before sid could complete the detective started speaking again. "Lets cut to the chase here, i know who you are and why you are here, lets put down some rules, if you want a lawyer nod your head" marcus continued after seeing sid nod his head. "Okay then, lets talk after your lawyer is here." Marcus said and started to leave.

Sid thought to himself, does asking for a lawyer make me look guilty or make them feel as if i have done something wrong because why would i need a lawyer if i was innocent, he knew what he had to do, he didnt know if he would regret this later or not but why would he regret it, he was innocent right?

"I changed my mind, i dont need a lawyer" sid exclaimed.

Marcus looked amused at sid's sudden courage.

"Sid, if you think that not having a lawyer makes you look any less guilty then you are wrong, but now that you have soo willingly changed your mind, lets have a little chat" marcus's eyes shined with a child like mischief, he knew he had sid right where he wanted him.

"I will not answer anything that is invasive to my personal space" sid put his demands forward.

"No lawyer no demands, i make the rules here not you, firstly if you keep even the smallest of details from me thinking it isnt important and later on i find out you hid something from me i will make sure you get punished for hiding evidence, secondly dont try and lie to me, your wife was one of the most powerful women in la so this is a high profile murder and if you lie you die" the detective looked like someone who was very good at his job and his first suspect was sid.

"Okay marcus" said sid, he felt as if everything he said had to be said with caution cause anything could be manipulated and used against him.

"So do you want to do this the hard way or the easy way" marcus put out a finger on both of his hands.

"I am innocent, please let me go" the detective was very intimidating and almost made sid think he was guilty and the pressure and stress was eating sid up.

"I repeat, the easy or the hard way, you decide" marcus looked as if he was about to lose his shit.

"Easy please" sid whispered.

"Okay, why did you kill your wife?" Marcus asked.

"I did not kill her" sid simply replied, he knew he had to keep his cool.

"Hmm, things dont add up here sid, you were the only one who met her the morning of her death and right when she was dying, we have the cctv footage so dont even try to disagree" marcus retorted when he saw sid almost shake his head at marcus when he said he met her on the morning of her death.

"Yes i went to meet her, she was the only women i loved and she supported me with whatever i did and so to show her my gratitude i brought her flowers, i was late for my meeting with the publishers so i left immediately" sid started his story.

"Okay, so you want to tell me the names of the people you went to meet and also give me their numbers, better check up on your story right." Marcus said whilst handing his phone to sid so he could write the numbers down.

"Here" sid said as he finished typing the numbers and saving them.

"Detective, come here, look what we found" marcus got up quickly and left.

Sid was left there with drops of sweat falling from his nose, a scared expression filled his face as if it was the default setting in his face.

Why did he suddenly become scared? Was the clue incriminating towards sid? Was he guilty?
