Bludgers and Bruises

There's nothing like waking up on a wonderful, free Saturday morning. No classes, no waking up at the crack of dawn, no dealing with teachers and piles of homework (at least until Monday), and best of all, I get to play Quidditch!

If any of you know me by now, I am NOT fond of waking up super early in the morning, especially on a Saturday. But if you also know me, then you would know that my love for Quidditch (surprisingly) surmounts my love for sleeping in on a Saturday morning.

And that's how I got caught on the Quidditch pitch at Merlin-knows-what time this morning, riding my broomstick and playing one-man Quidditch by myself on the pitch. I was mainly just practicing beating the heck out of the bludgers back and forth, letting out some early morning steam and left over anger from Malfoy the day before, but I also practiced throwing the quaffles into the goals. I didn't mess with the snitch, though, because Oliver Wood would probably skin me alive if I lost it in the dark, and that would ruin any future chances of getting with him and finally being Hogwarts sweeth-

"AHHHH! ROSE?" A voice yelled coming from my right.

My broom jerked as I practically almost fell off of it from the shrill scream! I looked over and saw Oliver himself standing there, clutching his heart out of fear and surprise. He was standing with the rest of the quidditch team who all (understandably so) looked like they wanted to drop dead out of exhaustion.

"OLIVERRR!" I yelled back. "I COULD'VE DIED WITH THAT YELL!"

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT HERE SO EARLY?" Oliver questioned, squinting his eyes to see me so high up.

"THE QUESTION IS, WHAT ARE YOU NOT DOING OUT HERE SO EARLY?" I retorted, making the team groan. Oliver didn't respond, and just gave me a grin. I could feel my cheeks go red at the sight.

I swooped down back towards the ground, hopping off my broom right in front of Fred and Alicia Spinnet, making them jump back about a foot in the air.

"Give us a warning next time you make quite the entrance, will ya, Rose?" Fred mumbled, ruffling my hair and making me laugh.

Oliver disregarded my complaints about his attempted murder via yelling and led the team into the locker rooms to discuss quidditch tactics for our next game. I already went over them with Oliver earlier on in the week, helping him revise and suggesting things to help the team win. I don't think he actually added any of my ideas, as most of them involved making a hit list of the best players from the other teams and resorting to various forms of subtle violence to lead us to victory. One of them involved whacking Malfoy directly with a bludger, and I'm pretty sure Oliver isn't going to let me ever be a beater. Rightfully so, no matter how fun it would be to personally whack Malfoy in the face with one.

Oliver was only through not even half of the plan. Fred's sleeping soundly on Alicia's shoulder, I think George is sleeping with his eyes open, and the others were idly listening. Other than me, Oliver (as normal) was the only person actively awake and motivated. I wonder how many cups of coffee he had this morning.

I didn't spend too much time wondering, because I got bored. I subtly snuck away from the rest of the team, Harry giving me a confused glance as I did. I winked at him, and ran back onto the pitch.

As I got out there, I looked up and saw Colin sitting in the stands, bouncing in his seat and holding his camera up, smiling wide.

I smiled and waved at him, mounting my broom and making my way to him.

"Hi, Colin! What brings you out here so early?" I asked the boy, who gave me a hug as soon as I sat down next to him.

"Hi Rose! I came here to watch you guys play Quidditch! I already talked to Harry this morning and he explained a bit about the game to me, but he seemed pretty tired and I didn't get to ask all my questions because he went into the changing room! He also didn't get to sign my picture, but that's okay because I can just meet him after you guys practice today! Speaking of pictures, can you take a picture with me? Oh, and one with Harry too! And then maybe one with all three of us together! That would be really nice, and I get to show my dad that I met Harry Potter himself-"
