"Ahh!" I wailed as I tripped over a flaming wood plank. I ran as the flames licked up my home. My mom pulled me up as debris fell over the exit. "Get out! We'll find another way!" she yelled. My father nodded and before I left I kissed them both. I cautiously crawled through the hole. I was out. I looked around the flaming house. Where was Tess?!! I soon heard a dog barking. I ran back into the swarm of flames, and there was my one and a half year old Springer Spaniel.

I opened my eyes from my dream. It was still dark out. Dew had formed on the grass. I pulled myself to my feet from the park bench. I looked around, and saw the tree and rope. Tess was lying down still fast asleep. I shivered at the cold winter air. Oh how I wish we had a blanket! I rubbed my eyes. "Tess" I called softy to her. She yawned and looked up at me. I took out my pocket knife and cut off the branch that the rope was on, then proceeded to pull out the stick. Tess got up and stretched slowly. "Come on girl" I mumbled softly as I kissed her on the nose.
