Alone

Chapter 2- The Silhouette

The first thing I saw was a silhouette.

The sound I heard was a sweet silky female voice. Words that came to mind were kind, and caring. Its amazing how powerful first impressions are. In a fraction of a second after knowing the existence of this stranger I have already made judgements. "Hello there" called the silhouette. A girl with dark smooth black hair. She had green eyes and looked a lot like Night. Night hissed at her. "So you took my cat" she smiled and laughed. "Oh sorry I called him Night" "his name is Hunter not Night!" She laughed again smiling "but we can call him Night for now" she looked pleased and called "Night." He hissed but came to her. "So your dog got knocked out?" I nodded. Tess looked up and stood up. She growled at the girl but she fell back. "I'm Veronica White, you?" I hesitated then replied "I'm Sadie Hilta" I lied, my name was Sadie Trivellato. But my mom said to never give someone you don't know your real name. She smiled and gave me a hug "Can I stay here for tonight? I'm looking for a friend and you look nice!" I nodded "Well this is all I have..." She lay down. "Well I'm not going home and I like to camp." Soon her breath deepened. I got up and Tess followed. I heard a crow not too far off. "Tess!" She padded up to me and ran to the forest. Soon she returned with a crow in her jaws. I praised her and we went to sleep.

I woke up to a wet nose prodding me in the head. "What Tess?" I hissed with closed eyes. A voice called "Come on, I have sushi!" It was Veronica. I opened my eyes and looked at her. She had very sweet eyes. "What about the crow we caught?" I asked "oh don't worry, I gave that to Night!" I looked at her "but it was Tess's catch!" "We'll get some full grain, fresh dog food for her." I nodded and took a sushi roll. I took a bite, it was like heaven! I had forgotten what cooked fresh food tasted like. I tossed a roll to Tess who caught it in the air. I looked at her "where did you get it?" "Oh, my parents think I'm out camping with my 'friend' and I took some cash before I left" I nodded. "Well I have to go now" She shrugged "great lets go!" I nodded "let's go" I was slowly trusting Veronica, she had been so nice! Tess and Night followed close behind us, they seemed to be getting along. "Where are we going?" I asked Veronica "We're going to town to see if we can grab a job or something." She nodded.
