4. The Reunion (2)

On the walk to La Samantha, Nick was directing me towards the gardens. Everything around this area was so beautiful, the flower pots full of roses, the streets full of happy people, shops and restaurants playing music. The atmosphere was so romantic, like the perfect place for a date.

When we arrived at the gardens, we were surprised to see that Larry was already early, which was unlike him at all. "Hey dudes" a beam across his face
He was sat on a bench, and me and Nick sat across from him.
"Hey Nick?" Larry looked at Nick
"Huh?"
"Where's Maya?"
Nick's eyes fall. "Oh.." He faltered. "She went back to Kurain Villiage, to become a spiritual medium."
"Oh, man."
"Yeah."
"Do you miss her?"
"Of course, Larry."
I was confused. "Maya?"
"Oh." Nick looked towards me. "She's just a friend of mine, she helped me solve a few cases."
Minutes later, Miles arrived, and I held back a blush. He looked extremely handsome in a red suit with a pearly white cravat. His hair fell perfectly by his chin creating a perfect bone structure line for his facial shape. Whoops, I'm rambling.

"Uh, hello everyone." He spoke softly.
"Hey man! It's Larry, your pal." Larry looked at him with a wide grin.
"I know who you are. I haven't forgotten."
"Hey, Edgeworth."
"Hello, Wright."
I searched the group. Miles looked towards the floor. He did forget me!
"Uh, are we going inside? I'm kind of cold" I said.
"Oh, yes." Nick said.
"Wright, are you going to introduce me
to your girlfriend?"
Mine and Nick's eyes widen.
"What?!" We say simultaneously.
"Uh, M-Miles?"
Miles looked embarrassingly at the both of us.
"Hm. Sorry."
He looked into my eyes, searching for something. I couldn't help but blush.
He faltered, "(name)?"
I smiled sadly, pulling him into a hug.
That was when I forgot that Miles was awkward.
He tensed, shocked by the hug but then slowly wrapped his arms around me.
He smelled nice.
"I haven't seen you in ages." He whispered.
"I knew I'd seen you before."
We let go, blushing.
Nick begins to walk into the restaurant, slowly followed by everyone else.

"Table for four, please." Nick asked the waitress. The waitress went away somewhere, probably to find a table.
"Hey, it's a little strange that you didn't hug me, bro." Larry complained to Miles.
"Uh, why is that strange?" Miles looked questionably at Larry.
"Cause we're your friends too man!"
"Yes, but I've seen you more recently. I have not seen (name) since middle school."
"Haha, you're so weird Edgy." Larry beamed and tried to hug Miles.
"Larry. Stop making this so weird!" A hurried cry from Nick caused the waitress to come back.
"Any problems, sir?"
"No." Nick glared at Larry. "It's fine."
"Okay. Your table is over here, but we could only find a table for 5. I hope that's okay?"
"Yeah, that will be fine."
We walk towards a circular table with 5 chairs. I sit in between Nick and Miles.
Nick talked about his latest case, and I wasn't sure most of us were listening because Larry decided to talk over him.
"Man, Kiyance would have loved this food."
"Did she have a fancy pallete, then?" Nick looked interested at Larry's claim. "Maybe you should introduce her to us."
"Nah, she just likes it when I buy her expensive food."
I exchange looks with Nick.
"Who's Kiyance?" Miles looked up from the menu.
"My awesome girlfriend, man." Larry beamed. "She's rockin."
"Rockin?" A confused look came across his face.
"Yeah man, totally."
Miles, Nick and I exchange more looks.
"AAAH!"
Surprised by the scream, we all look around the restaurant to see where the screen came from.
A giant blazing fire stood before us, threatening flames gashing at the closer customer's faces.
"EVACUATE THE BUILDING!" a shout from one of the security guards causes traffic towards the closest exits.
We all rush to the exit. Subconsciously, I grab Miles' hand, scared of the fire.

Outside La Samantha.

Huddled outside, we all proceeded to glance at the building.
The fire only got bigger and bigger.
"Has anyone called the fire department?" Nick asked
"Dunno, maybe call in case?" I said.
Nick grabs his phone and starts dialling, walking away to talk.
Miles notices we're holding hands, and lets go.
I look up at him, feeling my face turn red.
So does his.
He's blushing.
I'm blushing.
This is a moment, right?
"You guys are totally crushing on each other." Larry giggles.
Moment over.
Nick comes back, frustrated.
"Why would there just be a fire all of a sudden? There has to be a reason for this."
I can sense the next thing he will say.
"Look, shouldn't we wait before turning this into a crime scene?" I question Nick.
"Hmm.." Nick replied, as the firemen pulled up and started spraying the building. "Something smells fishy, and it's not the restaurant food."
