"Phew, that was close!"
Jinny released a breath of relief while exiting the restroom.
Grumbling, Jinny rubbed her stomach. "I should really lay off the dairy at the cafeteria..."
Turning around the corner, Jinny froze upon seeing two familiar figures.
Senior Su and Mr. Sato? What were they doing together? And alone at that!
Jinny's expression of confusion transformed into one of playfulness.
Were the rumors true? Were Senior Su and Mr. Sato dating?
An image of the two in an intimate pose immediately emerged in Jinny's mind, however, a frown appeared on her face.
If only Senior Su were a man...
Lost in her own fantasies, Jinny, hiding behind a corner, noticed Eli leaving. Hiding behind the wall, Jinny looks back after a few seconds only to see Senior Su's lone figure, her head lowered.
Hmm? Did they fight?
Debating with herself, Jinny takes a deep breath before she hops over toward Senior Su with a lively expression.
"Senior Su!"
Heeding the petite woman's familiar bubbly voice, Senior Su glances up. "Ah...Jinny, what are you doing here, don't you have work?"
"Haha, yeah, I do, but it seems my lunch from today decided to pay me a little visit and take me away from my work." Jinny laughed while scratching her cheek shyly.
"I see," Senior Su's smile was stiff.
The two stood in silence. Noting the tense air surrounding Senior Su, Jinny laughed awkwardly.
"Well, I have to get back to work. Want to walk back to the office together?"
"Hmm? Oh sure." Senior Su absentmindedly nodded her head.
With a faint smile on her face, Jinny walks alongside Senior Su and cheerfully, she begins chatting.
"That's right, we haven't spoken in a while! There's so much we need to catch up on! Oh, and I have to say I was really surprised by what happened with Ms. Mimi. Who would have thought she was so smart. She's kind of scary huh?"
While Jinny chatted away, she was unaware of the grim expression on Senior Su's face.
"But I guess that explains why Mr. Sato was always kind to her, he must have known..."
"Enough! Do you ever stop talking?!"
Jinny was startled, her expression paling toward the woman's raised voice. Feeling her hands tremble, Jinny lowers her gaze.
Speaking up in a meek voice, she mumbles, "S-Sorry...y-you're right. I guess I got a little carried away. I'm s-sorry."
Regaining her breath Senior Su sighs and turns her head away from Jinny. "I'm sorry, I'm not feeling well. Can you head to the office by yourself?"
Jinny smiled at her. "R-Right, of course, don't worry! I hope you feel better!"
Without stealing her a glance, Senior Su walks away from Jinny.
Alone in the hallway, Jinny's hands shake. That had been the first time she had witnessed such an expression on Senior Su's face.
It was...scary...
With her head lowered, Jinny heads back to the office.
Arriving at her desk, Jinny stares absentmindedly at her computer. The female employee across from her glances up from her computer and tilts her head.
"Hey, what's wrong Jinny?"
"I..." Jinny's lips quivered. "I think I made Senior Su mad..."
"Huh? What do you mean?" The woman's eyebrows elevated.
"Woah, Senior Su got mad? That's rare!" Another colleague beside Jinny said.
"What happened?"
Jinny explained what took place in the hallway with a pale expression, her voice stuttering. The women both stared at one another and then to Jinny after she finished speaking.
As Jinny was contemplating, the woman across from her suddenly spoke. "I mean...you can be a little talkative Jinny."
Jinny looked up, her expression alarmed. "Eh?"
"Yeah, sometimes you rant a little too much. I guess you caught Senior Su at a bad time, and she got upset. I'm sure it's nothing personal!"
"Mhm! Besides, don't you think you're being a little sensitive? I'm sure Senior Su had her reasons!"
Unable to say anything in response, Jinny's lips stretched out a strained smile. "I-I guess you're right. Thanks."
"Mm, no problem." The woman nodded before turning back to look at her work.
Seeing as both women continued to work, Jinny as well looked down at the paperwork in front of her. Her mind went dull, and she suddenly felt an uncomfortable feeling within her. Almost as if she was hollow.
What was this feeling?
Shaking away the feeling, Jinny made a mental note to remind herself to apologize to Senior Su.
