"He- He's gone," Y/N said, stuttering with her words. She didn't want Jungkook to leave, but she couldn't handle him being right in front of her, giving her a choice between her long-term best friend (and crush) and a caring one.

She fell on the couch, overwhelmed by the conversation she was having. She had tried to chase Jungkook, but he had already disappeared.

Jimin watched his sister sniffle several times. His conscience was telling him to run to Jungkook's house and give him a good smack, but his heart was telling him to just comfort Y/N and let her overcome everything that had just happened.

"Y/N, how 'bout some coffee?"

She shook her head. How smart, Park Jimin, she already won't be able to sleep and yet you're here telling her to have a cup of coffee. Just great, he thought to himself irritatedly at himself.

Taehyung was still stunned by what happened. He still couldn't believe that Y/N had chosen him over her own childhood friend, while she claimed to used to have a crush on.

But he knew this wasn't the time to rejoice, after all, she had just been left by him and perhaps not even coming back to check on her.

He was still beside her so he decided to gently pull her towards him and let her head rest on his chest.

He didn't care whether Jimin or she got mad, he was desperate to help her. He guessed that she didn't really mind the gesture since she didn't flinch or complain.

He came to the conclusion that she was still distressed and preoccupied with whatever was going on inside her head.

Taehyung was right. Y/N was too preoccupied to even notice that she was lying on her friend's chest, something Jimin was grumbling about.

This is one person I'll never ever allow in her bedroom ever again, Jimin angrily thought to himself. Letting her rest on your chest while she's thinking whether she made the right decision or not.

He continued to look at the two and realized something he had never noticed before, Taehyung never took his eyes off the woman lying on his chest.

He wondered whether he should be concerned or happy for his sister. Maybe he could be the on to replace Jungkook?

He knew that staring was rude so he quickly looked away after realizing he had been staring at the two for at least five minutes.

He was ascending the stairs when he got the message from his brain that he was being called by nature, making him rush to the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Taehyung continued to look at Y/N's distressed face. She looked so worried, he was concerned that she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

"Y/N?"

She didn't look up.

"Y/N?" he repeated, making his voice louder.

She looked at him surprisedly. That's when she noticed that she had been lying on his chest for the whole time.

She quickly sat up straight, looking towards the space her brother was previously occupying.

She turned to Taehyung. "Where's Jimin?"

"Went up," Taehyung replied.

"What were you doing?" Y/N asked.

"I was letting you rest. You looked very distressed." Taehyung responded, not showing a hint of remorse.

"Taehyung, you can't expect me to be okay with that. I know that I chose you over Jungkook, but that doesn't mean—"

"—I can take care of you?" Taehyung cut her, finishing the sentence for her.

Y/N bit her tongue. She didn't mean it in that manner. She just didn't want company at this moment.

"I didn't mean it in that way," Y/N explained softly, hoping he wouldn't be like Jungkook who just got mad and went away.

Taehyung gave her a small smile then took her hand gently and rubbed the backside. "I know you didn't."

He looked up at Y/N. Her brows were furrowed. Her lips were frowning and her eyes looked lost.

"Maybe you should keep a distance from him?"

Y/N looked away from Taehyung, deciding not to make eye contact after the advice. She knew this wasn't going to be easy. Jungkook was one of the most important people she had in her life and now...he was gone.

"I just can't," Y/N mumbled. "It's hard."

Taehyung continued to rub the backside of her hand. "Of course, it will take some time to heal the wound in your heart, but I'm pretty sure that you will soon be alright."

Y/N faced Taehyung. She wondered how he was still by her side even after her confusing emotions. She wondered how he could withstand the sadness she's been spreading all over the house.

She wondered how he could remain so positive about every problem. She wondered why he chose to stay.

"Why, Taehyung?"

He was mildly confused by what she meant, but his conscience knew what this meant.

"Why I'm positive?" Taehyung asked.

Y/N nodded. "Isn't it hard to be strong for someone who's always in this state?"

Taehyung smiled and gave an answer, "It's definitely hard. But if it's someone you truly care about, then I don't mind being behind their back and being the one to make them strong again."

Y/N felt her heart skip a beat after what he had said. Truly care about? Did he actually say that to her?

"But, Taehyung, I'm a mess." Y/N said with a smile that did not reach her eyes. Tears formed as she tried her hardest to smile and it soon fell, making her cover her eyes and wipe all the tears falling uncontrollably.

Taehyung removed the hand rubbing her eyes and used his own thumb to wipe the tears falling down from her pretty eyes.

Y/N's face felt hot as he did that. No one did that to her, not even Jungkook.

She realized that Taehyung truly cared for her, not caring if she was a pain to be with. She couldn't help but feel confused with every single good thing Taehyung had done for her.

She knew he truly cared for her, but why? Out of all the girls in the world, why did it have to be her to receive all the goodness she never deserved?

She removed the hand that was wiping every single tear, making Taehyung feel a bit rejected. Did she not care for him the way he did for her?

"Y/N, I'm only trying to help ease the pain." Taehyung said.

"I know," Y/N replied. "But how could an angel come into my life?"

Taehyung hoped his cheeks were not pink at this moment, knowing this was the wrong time to feel like this.

"Uh- I don't know. I'm not an angel, you know, I'm a human." Taehyung said, trying not to stutter, knowing his cheeks were going pink.

Y/N gave a small chuckle. "Thanks, Taehyung."

"For what?"

"Making me laugh," Y/N replied.

"I wasn't trying to be funny. I was being serious, I am human. I don't have a halo and I definitely do not have wings coming out of my back. I would probably have went insane if I found out some feathery thing was growing right next to my spine."

Y/N smiled at his cuteness. He wasn't the best in making jokes, but his weird mind made it funny.

"I'll go get Jimin, we should go somewhere to cheer you up," Taehyung said with his box smile and headed up the stairs, skipping a few with his long legs.

He rushed inside the room, only to find a stunned Jimin staring at his phone.

"Jimin?"

He looked at him in shock and showed his phone. "Don't tell Y/N."
