I groaned as I regained consciousness but felt slightly claustrophobic, my legs were folded uncomfortably underneath me. The small, dark space that I was trapped in jostled suddenly like it was moving. I could hear traffic buzzing around me but the sound was too close and voices drifting towards me from behind. Still close enough to be in the same space though so I'm not alone. My arms stretched out to feel the edges of the space and I realized I'm in the trunk of a car.
It must be one of the suburbans Jake and his pack were driving, they probably took me after Jake smashed my head in with a rock, like a brutish neanderthal. Not that I would left with willingly or quieting but resorting to violence so quick is one of his less than admirable qualities. I'm pregnant for fucks sake, how much effort on his part would it have taken to think of a better plan of attack. Who knows what kinda damage could've happened to the babies, its inexcusable and ridiculous. I can't decide who I'm more angry with, Ethan or Jake.
My pondering was interrupted by the fast screeching tires skidding to a halt. I heard someone exited the car with heavy footsteps that ground into the gravel and twisted as they moved towards the back end of the car. I braced myself as the keys clicked and the latch for the trunk car was being gripped. My small space shook and the door swung up pouring in sunlight directly into my eyes. I cried out and shielded my face with my forearm but the man hovered above me tore my arm away and used it to yank me outta the car.
"Let's go, we have a lot of ground to cover before nightfall. Walk on your own feet I'm not carrying you" One of Jake's Betas said. I huffed and brushed myself off, trying to regain my footing.
"Your courtesy is impeccable wow, you do realize I'm pregnant and my ankles are swollen enough, right? What a gentleman. Anyway where are you dragging me off to?" I said. He didn't answer so we walked in ominous silence.
Once my eyes adjusted to the light I noticed we're in the woods, the exact same forest Ethan and I were in a few days ago. The only difference is here the trees are more dense and closer together, making it hard for me to keep up with the fast moving impatient Beta. Were they spying on us? I mean how else did Jake pick this spot, it can't be a coincidence. I stopped briefly to catch my breath and lean on a sturdy tree but he seized my shirt and yanked me forcibly back to the path.
"Can you calm down, what the fuck! I'm going as fast as I can" I said. He growled loudly and that was enough to shut me up.
I stopped attempting to ask him questions, it's useless anyway he would just grumble underneath his breath instead of answering me. The trees evened out and the clearing expansed to reveal a worrisome sight. My breath caught in my throat when I saw Jake and his entire pack huddled around a particularly nasty dip in the ground but not quite a hole. Maybe some kind of old water well? It even had a grimy stone face rising up from the dirt.
"Hello?" I called out but no one even looked up. When my guide walked forward to join his comrades, I snuck off to a less dense clearing sheltered from their view by some low hanging branches. Thorns snagged my face and gave me little superficial cuts that stung but healed just as fast as I was getting new scratches. I'm surprised how easy it was to get away from them, you'd think those idiots would pay more attention to their hostage. It didn't last though because not a minute later I heard panicked voices scattered across the surrounding ground.
"Where the hell could he go? Its the woods! Didn't he just move here too? He doesn't know the area it'll be fine! Plus being pregnant must slow him down"
I scowled as I recognized the voice belonged to my amazingly forthcoming guide who insulted me for being pregnant twice now!
"Shut up and help FIND HIM!"
