The whole point of these stupid balls was for me to find my queen. The only problem was that the queen that I wanted and the queen that I was looking for didn't exist.

I wanted the fairest maiden of them all. She had to be fearless. Any woman in my presence needed to be fearless. She needed to be smart, clever, impeccable. She needed to be outstanding.

There hasn't been a single woman out in the world like that. The only person that came close was married off to some Duke of Threson. I would do anything for another girl like her.

I was in my room preparing for another useless attempt at 'love'. I was fixing the collar of my shirt when Eric, my new butler, walked in. He's been here for a week and I've really warmed up to him.

He smiled seeing that I was ready to go. I ran my fingers through my rusty hair. It's a habit that I've gotten stuck on recently. All the stress of royalty is starting to take its toll on me.

"Are you ready your highness?" Eric ask me as he made his way closer. "For my death wish? Then yes." He chuckled at my blunt statement. It was true though. All the girls surrounding me was suffocating.

He turned torwards the door. "After you." He held his arm out gesturing torwards the door. I nodded my head and walked out the room. I looked back only once to see him walking in the opposite direction.

On my way into the ball room I hear the usual 'Oh your majesty, I never thought that I'd meet you here!' It made me sick that they'd think I was dumb enough to believe them.

That's when I saw her. Sleeveless light blue dress with limited jewels and hair half up and half down. That's another thing I liked, cheap, well not cheap but inexpensive.

Before I knew it I was walking up to her. She seemed slightly surprised that someone was speaking to her. I don't really know what happened. We were dancing and she was so beautiful.

I knew that I didn't want to be in the ballroom much longer. As soon as the music stopped I took her to the garden. There was I place that very few people knew. The bench.

It was a family tradition to propose on that bench. I hope she doesn't think I really love her. I just need her looks and inexpensiveness. When she looked up at the newly appeared stars.

The words just spilled out. I askes her to marry me. I was expecting a slap to the face not a yes and a bear hug. I couldn't help but hug her back, she smelled amazing. Fruity.

I would've kissed her but I don't want to know how good she is until our wedding. After a long time in each others arms I let her go. We walked back to the ballroom hand in hand.

Getting back I was surrounded by woman trying to pry their way inbetween us."Excuse me but my fiancé and I are trying to get though here." The words found their way out of my mouth and into their ears. The women immediatly stooped with thier eyes wide.

My parents, who just so happened to be near by over heard me. "Son, is it true?" My father, a bit on the plump side, asked walking up to me. "Yes." I said firmly pulling my woman forward.

"What's your name girl?" My mother stepped forward examining her. "Anastasia Craxit." Good now that I know her name I feel better. My mother and father looked to one another and nodded.

"The announce to the people will be held tomorrow." I bowed to my parents and Anastasia followed suit. This will be the perfect marriage as long as she doesn't rebel against me or anything.
