I strode down the boulevard my black Visconti boots hitting the pavement strictly. My week had been going from better to worse. Christian had decided to be coming back to LA and the guys were pushing me to see him, but that wasn't something I was ready to do so I was spending the day with Dad and Vanessa.

My mouth was probably dislocated because I literally felt it hit the floor. Vanessa was beaming while Dad sat there trying to look excited. This was all so wrong. How was any of this even possible?

"You guys are fucking with me. Right?", I blurted.

"Stephanie!", my dad said shocked at my terminology but I couldn't help it. Vanessa's pregnant.

Shaking my head I tried to wrap my brain around it all. "But you're so old!", maybe that wasn't the best way to put it.

"Stephanie!", Dad looked beyond pissed, but how was it my fault. He's the one that decided to get his wife pregnant at, what, forty-five? This was not happening.

Vanessa laid a delicate tanned hand on his knee. I cringed. That's the kind of behavior that started this crap! "Trey, calm down", she said with a seeming tranquil countenance.

How could she be so happy and calm. This pregnancy wasn't safe at all! I didn't want to seem pessimistic but giving birth at her age was too risky.

She turned me and smiled. "I get your concern, I get it, but this is the only chance I have to try. So, please, be supportive", her deep blue eyes pleaded with me.

There was no way this would end well but she knew that she just needed the experience of carrying a child. And who knows, maybe everything will be okay. Plus, she really wanted this.

Taking in a sharp breath I nodded. It was a quick bob of my head, once down and back to its original position. "Alright. Do you need anything right now? How can I help?", I asked trying to sound supportive.

A smile spread across her usually youthful face but I couldn't ignore the faint wrinkles it made. "Thank you", her voice was barely a whisper.

Oh shit. No no no. "Oh, please don't cry", I begged throwing my arms around her to stop the waterworks.

"I'm sorry", she sniffled and I could feel her smile against my shoulder. This woman had been there all these years offering her support in the best way she knew, although most of the time it would have been seen as unconventional. "I'm just so happy right now!", she exclaimed.

Soon my right shoulder was warm and wet with her tears. I rubbed her back in an attempt to calm her down but she was an entirely new Vanessa from the cool calm one she was just five minutes ago.

"Nessa, come on", Dad said finally pulling her off of me. "Let's go cuddle and watch the bachelor", he said leading her toward their room. He looked back at me and winked before disappearing into the room.

Well, that was unexpected. Who knew that was going to be dropped on me. I can't believe I'm going to be an older sister... Maybe. But knowing Dad, he had probably already hired Cali's best to take care of Vanessa during the pregnancy. I wonder what it's going to be like being an older sister and all.

"Pumpkin", Dad's voice interrupted my thoughts.

My head snapped up and I saw him standing in the kitchen doorway with two mugs in house hand. "Oh, hey Dad. Sorry, I got lost in thought. I'm gonna get going now", I said standing to my feet. Got some reason I felt like an intruder, like I wasn't supposed to be there.

"Oh, alright honey. Well, love you", he said bending down so I could peck his cheek.

"Love you too", I mumbled halfheartedly heading for the door.
