Nanako was packing two bags for her and little Sachiko 3 weeks after she contacted her friend. Today was the day, it was now or never. She felt so nervous yet excited. Finally a new start for them. Her husband had gone to work at the usual time of 6am, so far so good. After packing up and eating a quick breakfast with Sachiko it was time to set out. At 8am Nanako and Sachiko were off to the train station to catch the shinkansen to Kyoto. They arrived a little after 8:20am and the train would come by 8:40am. Sachiko didn't seem to really grasp what was going on being so young, but she seemed to be happy and excited as they waited on the platform after Nanako bought tickets. Soon the train came into view and they prepared to board. Nanako still nervous took Sachikos little hand and took a last look around making sure no one they knew was there. They boarded and away they went, the shinkansen was very fast. Sachiko enjoyed looking out the window, for this was her first time riding shinkansen and going outside of Tokyo. Nanako opted for reading a book. It would take approximately 4 hours to reach Kyoto. Nanako's friend Nayuki would pick them up from Kyoto station. After about an hour Sachiko had fallen asleep and Nanako held her in her lap. Still 3 hours to go, a man from the train staff came along offering complimentary drinks and a small snack. Nanako took for herself and for Sachiko when she woke up. Calbee chips and Calpico (yogurt flavor) soft drink. After another hour Sachiko awoke and wanted her snack. Nanako helped her open the chips. Sachiko enjoyed the snack and sat in her own seat again for the rest of the way. Finally they reached Kyoto JR station. Another train staff collected garbage and Nanako helped Sachiko off the train. Nayuki waved her hands at them excitedly. "oh my gosh so great to see you guys! Its been so long!" Chimed Nayuki. "its been too long!" Replied Nanako taking her best friend into a quick hug, Sachiko at her side. Nayuki helped with their bags and led them to her car. Buckling up and getting Sachiko into her carseat they were now off to Nayuki's apartment, about a 20 minute drive. Nanako was quite excited so far so good.
