"Evie," My mother calls. "Cameron wants to talk to you!"
"Why would he call at this time in the morning?" I call back.
"I don't know!" She replies.
I shove on my knee-high socks and pink flats and run down the stairs.

I grab the phone excitedly out of my mum's hand, "Hey, Cam!"
"Hey, Bambina!" Cameron's disembodied voice comes through the phone.
"I miss you."
"I miss you too, Bambina." His voice suddenly goes in an undertone. "Listen, I'm going to tell you something you can't tell anyone."
"Okay." I reply in the same undertone. He then proceeds to tell me his 'secret'.
"Cam, that's amazing!" I squeal.
"Hey, keep your voice down, I don't want anyone other than you to know."
I nod then remember he can't see me, "Sorry. I really gotta go to school, now. Bye, love you."
"Love you too, Bambina." Then the line cuts off.
I quickly grab a banana to eat on my way to school.
"Mum, Dad, I'm leaving. I'll walk to school. Bye, love you!" I yell out as I leave.
"Be safe, and love you too!" They yell back simultaneously.

It's lunchtime. Brooklynn, Dunya, Matt, Conner and I are sitting together at a table in the far left corner of the cafeteria. I had made an avocado salad to take with me to school the night before. It's less awkward today than it was yesterday. Matthew made it his life mission to annoy Brooklynn and Dunya and Conner sometimes joins in. The lunch bell rings and Conner walks me to my next class.

Conner, Matthew and I are with me at my locker waiting for me to finish exchanging my stuff while I bid Brooklynn and Dunya goodbye. Conner walks out of school with me and Matthew does too because Conner's his ride home.
"Would you like me to drive you home, Evie?" Conner asks.
"Yeah, sur-" I stop mid-sentence as I look up.
" What's wrong? Why'd you stop talking all of a sudden." He presses in concern.
I run faster than I ever did and drop my bag once I reach him. I jump and wrap my legs around his waist, he stumbles a bit but regains his balance and hugs me back.
"I missed you too, Bambina." He says as he kisses my hair.
He eventually puts me down and I eventually let him go after my tears dried. I turn around to introduce Conner and Matthew to him but I find them gone along with Conner's car.
"Who are you looking for, bug?"
I glare at him for the nickname, "No one."
I then climb into his car and we go home to surprise my parents.
