Two days later:
I wake up to my phone ringing, it says Colby. I hit the green button and put the phone on speaker.
"Hello?" I say. "Hi, I hope I didn't wake you up or something." "Yeah, it's fine I needed to get up anyway." I reply tiredly. "Well um, I was wondering if you wanted to go get lunch together today." "I'm down, what time and where?" I say excitedly. "Would 1 at Waffle House be ok?" He asks. "That's perfect, do you mind picking me up again? " "Yeah, no problem. See ya then!" "See ya." I hang up.
After taking a quick shower I eat and brush my teeth. All I can think about is how blue his eyes are and how nice he is. He just makes me feel weird, but in a good way.
A few hours go by and I start getting ready. I guess I'll just put on a crop top and shorts. I finish putting on my clothes and makeup then I hear a knock on the door. I open it to see Colby. "I've got to brush my hair and put on my shoes, so come in and sit down." I say while holding the door. "Ok, I like your outfit by the way." He says, sitting on the bed. "Thank you, I'm wearing my favorite shirt today." I respond, brushing my hair.
"Ok, I'm ready to go!" I say brightly.
When I get into the car I quickly text Taylor that I'm gonna get something to eat with a friend and tell her to call if she needs anything. I catch him looking at who I'm texting out of corner of my eye.
"Who's Taylor?" He asks me. "Oh, she's my the girl that yelled that I liked you at Tender Greens." I reply. "Oh." He plays some music and we have fun screaming the lyrics. But when we get to Waffle House he parks and looks at me.
"Um, I have to tell you something." He says nervously. "What is it?" I ask. "Uh, nevermind." "What is it? I can tell you're nervous but you can just say that you have to tell me something and then say nevermind. It's ok, you can tell me anything."
"It's probably a little too soon to say this but after I got to know you a little bit I could tell you were being your true self around me and I really like that about you. I actually encourage people to be themselves and let those who like you for who you really are like you for who you are and let those who don't like your true self not like your true self. The more I learn about you and the more I see your true self the more I like you. But I feel weird around you, but in a good way. What I'm trying to say is that I think I'm starting to have feelings for you. I probably shouldn't have said that but I feel it's important to take chances and live life like everything is now or never." I realize I'm staring blankly at the steering wheel and didn't say anything and see him looking down in embarrassment. I grab his hand and he continues looking down.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said anything. I can take you home if you want." He says bashfully. "Colby, I-" "It's fine I know you don't feel the same way, I understand." He interrupts. "Like you said, it might be too soon to say stuff like this but I think I have feelings for you too. You said that you felt weird around me and I don't know if it's just because I met you in a weird way, or that we just met but... I feel something around you that I don't think I've ever felt before. I think the best thing to do is to just wait until we get to know each other better and spend more time with each other before we try anything or something. I just don't want it to ruin our friendship, because our feelings could change at any moment." I say calmly. "Do you still want to get lunch?" "Uh, yeah! I'm starving."
While I grab my purse he quickly hops out of the car and opens the door for me. I smile and climb out of the car. "Thank you. Is it ok if I hug you?" I ask him. "Of course!" He says as he wraps his arms around me. This feels so right and his warmth is so comforting.
Once we get inside we pick a table by the window and a waitress asks us what we want to drink.
"I'll have a rootbeer." I answer. "I'll have a rootbeer also." A few girls walk in and one of looks at Colby and gasps. "Oh my God, hi! I'm your biggest fan. Is she your girlfriend?" She says in a high-pitch voice. "No, she's just a friend of mine." He replies. "Oh, can I take a picture with you?" She practically begs. "Yeah, sure." Colby says. She takes out her phone and takes a picture with him and then goes back to a table with the other girls.
